Luke Lewis

Luke does not intend to move ,so a 30 minute trip down the freeway or a 20 minute trip is his option.
Give it a rest smoker , you wouldnt have a clue what any of the players are on .
Lewis is supposedly on 425k at penrith btw

This might come as a shock to some people but guess what? No one actually knows who he is closest too and no one knows what money he is being offered by what clubs. Give it a rest

Don't see whats so offensive at taking an educated guess as to what players at my club might be on. Hardly the first and won't be the last person to do so.

Fact is moving Heighno, Tuqiri and other fringe players on will allow us to make a good bid for Lewis, not as big as what Parra are offering obviously as what they're offering is absurd, but about right considering he's a foward.

'Lewis is supposedly on 425k' and you know this how? What, a newspaper article? Player's contracts are open to public scrutiny but the official figure doesn't become public knowledge as they are signed secretly and stored away in the CEO/Chairman's office where ever that may be. Newspapers, especially in the case of Sandow and Blair have lied about their contract figures to support to own agendas.

Don't know why somebody with your track record as an 'insider/source' feels the need to criticise others for making up a set up of rough figures.

How sure are you macdougall??

This thread has certainly been busy but shows the interest in such a quality player..

I'd be so stoked because whilst we have got some back rowers coming in next year already, none are of the calibre or class of our legendary Gareth, but Luke Lewis would be the closest possible And none of us would have imagined he'd be available..

Please be true!!!

Can anyone confirm or provide more insight as to how serious and how close we could be to signing Luke ? Or is it just more rumors and rubbish stories

Damn! Good one

I doubt we will get him personally.
We may not even be close…

From a cross section of reports it appears between sharks, parra And us...

If its purely money likely it's parra...

Does anyone have any actual info and where things stand ?

I think a few second rowers will become available depending on who Lewis signs with

Cronulla Smith and Tupou

Tigers Heighington

Etc Etc Etc

Every club will have to release some one to sign Lewis

Maybe the player released might even be worth looking at also

Damn! Happy.

Very rarely i agree with anything you have to say but i gotta give it to you there mate, that's some good logical thinking. Id be happy to snap up a few of the outcasts at some of these other clubs. Toopoo and/or Smith would be a great addition to our colours.

Robbie Farah launches a mission to snare Penrith's Luke Lewis

Tim Elbra
The Daily Telegraph
July 14, 2012 12:00AM

ROBBIE Farah will attempt to recruit and repel Penrith's Luke Lewis in the same week.

Writing in his MX newspaper column yesterday, Farah made no apologies about his attempt to lure his NSW teammate to Wests Tigers next season. But recruitment will be the last thing on both players' minds tonight when Farah's Tigers lock horns with Lewis and a Panthers line-up desperate to revive their season.

"(Lewis) spoke to me during the Origin period, so I knew what was going on there at Penrith and his mentality at the time," Farah wrote.

"He was looking for a fresh start, so I was doing my best to get in his ear and make sure that if it did happen the Tigers were right in the frame.

"Now he's got a release, I'm hoping our club does everything it possibly can to make sure he's wearing our colours next year. I'd love nothing more than to see him at the Tigers. I know he likes our squad and how we play."

Lewis will cap a tumultuous week tonight when he takes the field at Campelltown Sports Stadium - just five days after he announced he would be leaving the Panthers at season's end.

Farah is under no illusions as to the challenge a fired-up Lewis will present.

"He's going to go out there with a point to prove," Farah wrote. "He's definitely going to be up for a big game. He's a great player and can do a lot of damage if we don't turn up."

Farah's comments come a day after it was revealed Parramatta were preparing to launch a $2.1 million raid for Lewis. Cronulla and Newcastle have also been touted as potential suitors for the Panthers veteran, however Farah is confident the Tigers can pounce: "Money's not going to be the deciding factor when he picks a new club - though a player like him will command decent money and rightly so," Farah wrote. "It will come down to a team that Luke thinks has a squad capable of winning a comp in the next couple of years.

"He's a starting back-rower in the Australian side and I know Tim Sheens has a high opinion of him. I also know he enjoys Sheensy's coaching.

"The fact is, we have Gareth Ellis leaving and Luke has pretty identical characteristics. He would be a great replacement, as long as we are able to fit him under our salary cap. But it's common knowledge most clubs in the NRL want him. While a number of our players have come out and said they want Luke at the Tigers, I'm sure Paul Gallen would love to have him at the Sharks. Parramatta likewise."

Ignore the scoops in here - have some patience - and wait for an official announcement from where and whenever its announced.

You're right Ink…

Sit back and enjoy all the speculation... that said, It would be amazing to have Luke and that's why everyone's talking about it all and many have their own scoops and stories. But the more we are linked to him and all only makes me less confident we will get him. I think , we are the club most linked to him now...

I have a feeling we have a good chance of signing him, if he truly wants to win another premiership he would sign with us and maybe knights, but if he is in it for the cash he will defiantly go to the eels, but I don't see that happening as the eels are worse than the panthers

I just had a chat to a Panthers director. He said Lewis->tigers = done deal

Please be true but until something official then who really knows…. And if so, it would have been a pretty quick agreement... We've come out pretty public with our wish to have him and that made me even less sure about this happening. I wonder how long it will be before something official comes out or maybe it will drag on for a few weeks.
