Luke O'Donnell

Is Robert Lui from NSW? If so, NSW could do alot worse than blooding him. He will only miss as many tackles as everyone else.
Also, from what I can tell, the biggest issue NSW have is a lack of wingers, only 1 in the team. Didnt Bellamy play under Sheens, did he learn NOTHING?

Lui is from far north Queensland.

For over a month now the blues have been puffing their collective chests out and exclaiming " we are gonna bring it to QLD"

The only two blokes who had the balls to "bring" it are being hung out to dry now by the very same people who were frothing at the mouth for their inclusion.

This mentallity goes a long way towards describing why the NSWRL and it's teams are a bunch of deadset losers….FOR THE 5TH YEAR IN A ROW!!!!!!!

Ummm…I never wanted O'Donnell....he's not that good....

Gallen was good but take away his mongrel and there is a lot of mistakes in his game....

I love Luke O'Donnell. After last night he is my favourite player.

Sure it was a bad tackle, but honestly, not one NSW player other than he (and Paul Gallen) showed one iota of passion last night. If we had a team of O'Donnell's and Gallens NSW would never lose a series.

What a bunch of whimps.

Agreed. I'd pay money to see the entire QLD squad line up and get 7 shades of sh*t punched out of them by LOD. Grub yes. Short fuse, yep. Loose Cannon, correct. Win? Absolutely. Legend. Pick a few more forwards like he & Gallen. Instead of 'finesse' forwards like Creagh and Waterhouse..

And leave out pretenders like Michael Weyman, anybody see the first hitup of the game? He did a bloody 10 metre half pace Gasnier shuffle, how about running hard and straight Michael? Or are you too worried the concussion fairy will come and visit you again?

I wouldn't want O'Donnell or Gallen in my side, they both give away cheap penalties and it's far too easy to get under their skin. The only impact LOD had was in the brawl, otherwise Qld had his measure, same for Gallen who has minimal impact at Origin level IMO.

He dropped the axe on Nate Myles. That made a bit of an impact. Put him on the sideline for over an hour. Overall it didn't have a great impact on the game but maybe if we had 16 players willing to do the same to their opposite number we might stand a chance next year

Maybe we should pick guys who can actually play and are not old, out of form has beens who lose their temper to easily and start fights. I think a guy who does 50 tackles a game, or 20 hit ups a game or someone who can score a try or set one's up would have a lot more impact then a guy who came very close to being sent off.

3 Weeks with the early plea is the MRC verdict

well that sums up origin for me ….....we have 3 sets of laws ... one for the elite ...one for the origin players ...and one for the joe averages......im a blue . but i actually enjoyed watching queensland chaulk up series win number 5 ... only a fool would have backed the blues......when nsw actually pick a side with in form players. thats when we might see them get close to the mighty maroons,,,,

I think im in the minority, I like what LOD and gallen brought…Sure LOD did take it a bit too far with his brain snap spear tackle, but I did enjoy his aggression in the team.

NSW game plan should have been to pick Gallen and LOD to trouble them on the field, and pick Bird and leave him in the carpark with some empty scooners so the Qld players were a bit worried about their women.....thats the only chance we had.

The selectors seem to think that being an 'origin type player' means that you have to be a grub who wants nothing more than to be told to go out there and start a fight and try to carry on with as much dirty play as you can.
ennis, o'donnel, gallen (I admit I, wrongly, wanted Gallen in the side for Origin II) being the obvious examples of this.

They're so wrong it's not funny. An origin player is someone who always makes effort on effort and never gives up. Always runs a line even where there's no chance of them getting the ball, always hunts after the ball if it's anywhere near them (that try of Tonga's was a classic example of complete laziness), is there to make a covering tackle that they should never have been there for, plays through pain etc. Hindmarsh, Tongue and most of the Qld forward pack show this. Unfortunately Hindy probably is too old but he should have played the last few seasons.

Aggression doesn't mean you are a grub, aggression is essential. Stupid, uncontrolled thuggery however doesn;t work in the modern game and the ongoing belief by the NSW management that it somehow makes you 'perfect for origin' is one of the many factors which have made the NSW SoO team a joke.

Fair dinkum….. if i see the words Origin player again ......i'll.... :brick:

If L'OD is one of them we are in all sorts......Offers nothing in attack and is a LIABILITY on the field at all other times unless there is a stink....then he's just a grub...

A team that can score POINTS might be a start....

i THINK it is very difficult to play with a controlled agression right up to that thin red line for the entire 80, you will always cross over occasionally…..incidents in the game out of your own control can take you over that line, adrenalin is a powerful thing.

Agreed.
Unfotunately 15 others in blue didnt follow them

LOD and Gallen are the only players who deserve to hold their spot imo. Hayne is NOT the superstar he's made out to be and I have serious questions about his defense (wing or at fullback). Our back-line is dreadful and lacks any form of cohesion and fluidity in attack. I didn't mind Scott though, I thought he went ok and deserves to hold down his spot.

Creativity is also killing the side… and has for years. Yes this is probably the best Origin side of all-time, but NSW do HAVE the players to at-least pressure the QLD side.

Wednesday was an embarrassment for NSW... we played like grubs with cheap shots galore...

We need an over-haul next year, forget anyone and everyone who played in the side this year and even those who just missed out. Pick the side on form solely and just forget media favourites, expirience and this 'made for origin' crap...

NRL Fantasy is on Fox brother. Channel Nine broadcast the SOO and if you get the chance to watch the game, try watching with your eyes open!!!

Well, the "enforcer" was out again last night. Runs in to a group of 6 players having a barney and delivers an almighty blind side hit. What a player, what an enforcer…..

I would love to see someone fly in and blindside "third man in" Thaiday!!

Bloke is a CAT of the highest order, but the refs keep letting him do it so it must be ok????
