No wonder we can't move forward.

What we learn from history is that people don't learn from it. We're going backwards but not in a good way.

We tried to "learn from the past" by bringing back Robbie and Benji, where did it get us?

They were great players and always will be. The issue is the dud coaches we've had. Note I do not include Sheens or Cleary in this category.

Cleary destroyed our roster.

Beats me how anyone can defend the guy or call him good. He may have had the boys playing ok but he was not good for us in the final tally.

Goes on the list with the dud coaches.

Cleary was literally a suicide bomber...infiltrated and boom

Sheens and Cleary are the two best coaches we have had at WTs by a long way. Cleary gets results and this is a results driven business. I didn't agree with what he did but understood it involved his son.

It would be interesting to know which coach our current players would prefer to play for if they had the choice? It worked out well for Momirovski.

Our players are inheritantly soft. They'd love to play under a soft coach like Ivan who'd give them a pat on the bum instead of a bollocking. IMO our current roster would perform better under the perceived 'softer' coaches in the game. They just don't seem willing to respond to a hard taskmaster like Madge, I honestly don't think it will end well for him which is a shame.
Player power always wins in this day and age in all sports.

I agree with you. While tough love has its place, Sheens and Cleary are proof there are different ways of going about achieving results. That article about Reynolds and the reference to being forced to play injured has set back WTs.

Did Robbie Farah being allowed to play with a broken leg help or hinder Wests Tigers? @Pawsandclaws

That's the first I learnt of that one. I'm getting older but that doesn't sound great. It would be hard to keep him from playing!

I do find this is taken as a true story, but really it is an irrelevant story. those players are no longer here and have no influence.
But we still put in poor performances. It's almost an excuse for the club. Divided group no chance of success with that but here we are the bad eggs removed and still no success.

Good post.

I disagree paws . It’s indicative of a culture that benji lead , which really resorts back to about face we did from Cleary to Madge in coaching styles . All the BS about Benji buying in , clearly isn’t true if there was a revolt at some point . And if that did happen , and there’s guys here still under contract , and even out there on Sunday , it can seep in like a cancer .

Benji is gone so is the other players except Packer (who would be a pariah to the rest of the group if this is true). They should all be united now as at least 2 of the problems are gone (and the only remaining one would be on the outer). This playing group should be united by this experience.

Did any of them have a Milky Way ......

Yep, I saw Benji at a grocery store in Redfern yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

I swear someone has said this story before

Hayne story?

Yes. The story was originally posted in the Jarryd Hayne topic thread 15 days ago and referenced Hayne, not Benji.

Seriously, how stupid do you think we are? This is a cut-and-paste of a previous post about Jarryd Hayne (which probably also was rubbish), with a name change to Benji Marshall. Huh? What were you thinking?

I even think it goes further back than hayne aswell. Remember reading it there and it seemed very familiar

Yes and if @Kazoo-Kid posts rubbish like this again he can have a spell for a week or two.

C'mon fellas you think Pat Richards wasn't injured in the grandfinal? You want to start pointing fingers at coaches who have played players injured they would have plenty of company.

If it’s ok to talk about our last two games, I’d like to draw your attention to our slow starts. Our players run onto the field doing the Matterson mope, they look like they want to be somewhere else. When you compare their entrance to that of say Storm it really stands out like dogs nuts. Has the training dropped off? They don’t look fit to me? It appears as though they are keeping something in reserve for the 2nd half?
Anyone got any ideas?

All I can think of is by doing nothing in the first half they hope to have some energy left.

In other words no serious ideas. The team don't look close or happy unless they are downhill skiing (manly trial).

Time to identify who actually cares and promote some kids around them because we look slow and tired.
