I disagree happy ..have a beer with them , but that's how the problems start …they get on the drink with them and become friends and the. When the hard decision has to be made they can't make them because they are mates , same goes with fathers In the juniors . Every old man believes his kid is the best and do t they love telling you ...sure have a few at seasons end ,the. Let the boys go their own way .

So if you win a premiership 1/4 and the club is having a massive party for the players and fans , the coaches should just sit at homes with the wives ??

Because that's exactly what you are saying

A good coach ,boss ,parent should be able to separate the two

Next thing you'll be telling us we can't have a drink at our kids 18th ,21st or weddings

Or going to Christmas parties with our staff

Or throwing the occasional milestone birthday for staff

With your logic the only time we would be able to celebrate is at the funerals …......

I think you're taking that way out of context happy. The coach should be able to have a beer with the players. But they have no place being there on mad monday.
How many mad mondays do you think Bellamy, Bennett or Hasler have been on?
There's a time and a place for coaches to have a beer with players, 9.00am on a monday morning dressed in drag isn't one of them.

And so are you and 1/4 Fraze

No reason why the coach can't go and have a few at a Mad Monday

Been to a few and can't ever remember a coach NOT going even if it for only an hour

Not unusual for trainers and even members of the board coming for a while

As I said in another post it's no different to a work Xmas Party

The Nazi fun police need to go and have a big lie down and worry about the bigger issues the club faces over the next few weeks

By the way Fraze remember the Doggies scandal from a few years ago where they made obscene gestures to the female reporter , the coach was there ….............

Thanks Happy. You saved me writing all that out.

When someone posted that Payten was drinking with the guys on mad Monday ,I knew that he would not be coaching the Tigers next season .

Not sure about this one. I am in two minds. It's a grown up version of the school formal really. You get all dressed up and go to the venue to have some fun. The teachers and the principal are there too, smiling, laughing, dancing and so on. The event feels safer with them being there, but on the other hand you feel like you can't let your hair down with them there. Also it depends how the team decides to celebrate it. A barbecue for the whole team and the coaches would be fine but not sure how Potter would handle a more risqué event  i could be wrong.

By all means i don't mind if a coach attends as long as its only for a short period of time. A beer or two max.

Dont think the head coach should attend mad mondays. Its a good chance for the players to let their hair down without the coach being there. I think the club should have 2 security guys with the players though just to keep all in check.

I think the coach has many chances to have a beer and a snag on the bbq with the players throughout the year, no need to get down to the silly level on mad mondays…..leave it to the players.

Exactly what I said , a beer or two .. And happy ..not making the eight and getting on the puss together is a lot different to winning the premiership .

Personally I think they should be training until GF day

After that if they want to dress in drag and get a bit crazy that's fine for one day

Think of Mad Monday as their work X Mas party

We all get one

As long as when they are recalled to start pre season training they are ready for some hard yakka no issues with Happy

I used to think they should train until GF day, but a coach once explained t me that it than shortened your preseason, and no human is going to be motivated in the period of the semies if they are not part of it, so it is a bit counter productive. Makes sense I guess.

Bro I'm not a Kiwi ,I don't get on the puss , sux doesn't come before 7 , and you can stick your fush and chups

So what about making the semis , is that different ??

I can't believe how some people are getting their jocks in a knot over this

In this day and age players don't go and have a beer with the coaches like they used to

The coach gets there early before anyone has had a skin full and has one or two and then leaves.

Staying longer, people get too much courage and then begin to say things they regret later.

They didn't deserve to have a drink . They should've been helping out the elderly doing " meals on wheels" or something similar !
