Jock Madden vs Adam Doueihi

So are we assuming Douhie is starting in the halves? He has played well there and we need him for kicking. What about the discussion of playing him at lock? But then we need a halfback. I wish Benji would go public about how he intends to use Madden next season. What do you think? Do you think Madden will be playing many NRL games if there are no injuries?

If our plan is to play AD at lock...

We need another plan!
AD does NOT have the physicality to play lock, at all. Bird did not. AD is far more breakable and pushing him into lock is a mistake.
Off the bench lock is even a risk.

I am pretty sure Madden was cover incase AD did not sign.
Also we seem to have a pretty stable Spine
Bula is fullback
Luai is 5/8
AD is halfback till Latu comes onto the field
Api is Hooker.

I think we are going to see Terrell May at Lock. Although I really don't think this is the best use of him

AD is halfback/centre.

He doesn't have the experience, the motor, the defensive capability, knowledge of defensive structure or the work ethic to play in the forwards.

He is a completely skill based player.

He can play lock for 15-20 minutes to give someone a rest, but that shouldn't be the main plan starting 2026.

Doueihi is starting half next season assuming he is training well and healthy; Latu off the bench, and starting when AD or Luai are out; and Madden 7 for Magpies.

Madden is getting paid good coin to run our reserve grade team. It's something you have to do so your younger players can develop. It's the whole reason why the Roosters signed Chad Townsend. He predominantly trains with the reserves. Your depth players can't develop in a team run by a bad halfback - and Madden is pretty good at reserve grade level. He will get his chance in FG.

Surely the decision has long been made, with Adam already bulking up and from next month training to play 13 based on earlier comments from Benji.

The much improved defensively Doueihi ( @upthetigers please note the thread title spelling needs attention, plus @Suzie-Q or @Demps ) can either fill in all over the backline as a Jack of all trades, but master of none, or fulfil the ball-playing lock and occasional kicker role with aplomb for mine.
