Alex Twal and **David Nofoaluma** say the club's on-field start to the season is disappointing but the squad are confident of turning their form around this weekend.

**“He’s been successful where he’s been in the past… I personally think he’s a good coach.**
.

That line is not very smart. It tells me that some of the players think otherwise. Whats more its hardly a glowing review of a coach. More like a throw away line that does nothing but highlight that the coach may not be perfect but he is ok.

Cheers Nofo, got a good read of where the players are at from that.

I watched the interview on Ch9. I have not watched a lot of Nofoaluma being interviewed but it appeared he was less than enthusiastic. Probably buckwheats.

After watching that interview Nuffie has been added to my most punchable head list ..talk about smug .. got his 4 year contract .

We can thank inspector gadget for that

Whose that?

Our chairman

Oh yeah? is that proven anywhere? Do we know what deal Madge wanted?

Dunno ?‍♂️

Really, I would be curious to know if our front office demand certain deals of players and over call the coaching staff.

Nofoaluma's deal was put together by Hartigan...

I thought the suggestion was Hartigan was happy for Nofa to go, but Maguire wanted him to stay? I thought I read that on here ....not that that means anything lol

You are correct @Tiger-Tragic

Yes Madge wanted him to stay...Noffa had a great year last year and everyone said Madge made the right move ....bring on 2021 and Noffa is a statue ,he got his money, now he can coast to retirement...another one of the boys club when it suits...a manaquin shows more spirit in the jersey...

My comment about Nofoaluma wasn't meant to reflect poorly upon him. I wanted to highlight he appeared to lack vitality and looked flat in the interview.

I don’t think too many, apart from a couple of journalists, saw Nofa’s “good year” for anything other than what it was. He and his golfing mate were in a contract year. Nofa had a 6 who went looking for him every time he got the ball and Nofa was expecting it every time, so he scored a few tries. His defensive plays were still ordinary. At the time, I put his value at $325k with no more than 2 years. However, many here thought he was worth much more because of his marketability.

IC would find a starting position for Twal at the high flying Panthers. I believe he has an offload in him but like other players it is being coached out of him.

That may be true, but at the same time he doesn’t break the line and as such if he is ever going to score a try it would be a miracle. We’re 15mt out from the opponents line , we give it to Twally, one off the ruck, we know what’s going to happen. It’s always a settler. Of course there are other certainties in the game, like Doueihi running out of the line to grab a slice of thin air, or Mybe or Tamou trying a jersey grab on a player who races away to score.
I just don’t think Madge should be sacked for that. If our top 17 went on the market tomorrow, would any clubs get excited? If so who’s manager would they call?

Hasn't Gould and a few other commentators made mention that the good teams don't require so-called settling plays? These teams just attack when the opp presents? Twal probably knows it is predictable and so do his team mates.

I don't get the people crucifying Cleary and Madge for their recruitments. Go back to the signing threads and see that majority of the forum supporter each of the signing, The least supported signing was Matulino who we were able to medically retire anyway.

The blight on Cleary is that he jumped off a sinking vessel.

It's a failing of an entire club and not just the coaches, however I do understand that on-field results is the only way to judge a coach.

No NRL side is represented in CC. They all have feeder teams. The Magpies are the WT’s feeder team.

others are not joint ventures either
we are a joint venture and should be represented equally in Canterbury Cup not just through one side that being Magpies
Roosters have newtown
Manly have blackthorn
again they are not Merged entities like Wests Tigers
it is divisive

the rabble starts with Canterbury Cup
WE are WESTS TIGERS
play as them in every grade show some unity we are not Magpies we are tigers

That’s just petty

not petty I woukd say petty that Magpies are the Canterbury Cup side considering jersey flogged is wests tigers

You’re the only person I’ve seen who has an issue with it. It’s good to see the Magpies flying, at least we’re getting something out of this year.

Has anyone realised Madge is of-contract in 2023.. the same year some big names in our squad are of contract. Surely this is going to be an issue for us in 2023. Either get rid of him now, because if he is still here in 2023, it should only be because we are extending him.

We get rid of him in 2023 expect to see some of our best talent leave too.

Madge is being criticised for not being able to attract quality players, but the quality players are going to leave with him?

We have very few quality players anyway. I can't think of any in the team that I'd be devastated if we lost.

I'd like to keep Laurie and Simpkin but otherwise wouldn't mind anyone leaving.

Doueihi? I know your a fan of his. Interested to hear your thoughts on him so far. I am a fan of his, think his defence has really let us down a couple of times though.
