At the end of the day sack him or don't sack him it doesn't change anything for this year.
If he gets sacked, an interim coach takes over bloods a couple young players we win a couple games then fall away at the end of the season, then Tigers are looking for a new head coach, I'd maybe take John Morris, not a huge fan of Flanagan, apart from that what are the options? (genuine question).
If he doesn't get sacked we continue up and down and probably finish quite strong when there is nothing to play for. Then over the break Madge stays on and continues with his long form plan, and has $2m either to buy some talent or dangle the carrot.
Madge/recruitment have got the club in a good position to compete for a premiership in 2/3 years time, but either way this team wont make finals in 2021.
For me it all feels like a coin flip, but if I had the reins I'd probably keep Madge until atleast round 10 of next year.

Has anyone realised Madge is of-contract in 2023.. the same year some big names in our squad are of contract. Surely this is going to be an issue for us in 2023. Either get rid of him now, because if he is still here in 2023, it should only be because we are extending him.

We get rid of him in 2023 expect to see some of our best talent leave too.

Madge is being criticised for not being able to attract quality players, but the quality players are going to leave with him?

We have very few quality players anyway. I can't think of any in the team that I'd be devastated if we lost.

I'd like to keep Laurie and Simpkin but otherwise wouldn't mind anyone leaving.

Doueihi? I know your a fan of his. Interested to hear your thoughts on him so far. I am a fan of his, think his defence has really let us down a couple of times though.

I should have included Doueihi too as i'd be upset if we lost him.

I am a big Doueihi fan and I think his form generally this year has been pretty good (his game against Souths was excellent and his game against Manly was terrible). I think his attack has been good although i've been really disappointed in how little ball he gives JTJ, it's like he's invisible. I think his kicking game has been impressive but his defence has been woeful. He really needs to improve his defence.

I think he'll progress into a very good 5/8 but he has some work to do in areas of his game. I have a lot of hope that we can build a team around Laurie, AD and Simpkin.

West Ashfield took the balmain debt so they would not owe the NRL any money unlike St George etc. Basically the nrl has no power over wests tigers as far as moving us to w.a. or anything like that by calling in any debt owed to the Nrl.
Also glad to see Ashfield is inner city coincidently where the COE is being built

It wont happen... To over simplify the situation, the NRL actually owns the Licencing, and the clubs lease the "brands" from them. The Tiger has always polled as one of the strongest branding logo's world wide, they wouldnt let its slip away.

About the CC team being Magpies branded... to be honest, its financial to a point, alleviating some of the financial burden off the WT. The real shame in our CC being Magpies, is that we once had a leg up on the competition having both Tigers and Magpies in CC, meaning we had the ability to nurture twice the talent, and we merged them. That was the lost opportunity.

Old rusted on Magpies will remember being pushed out of Pratten Park, to Lidcombe, Humphries old man almost succeeding having booted us from the competition, then being forced out to Campbelltown... we lost fans everytime. Sure there is some militant old fogeys out there, but for the most part us old boys know how it feels to have your OG team put through the ringer, and dont wish it on Balmain either. Too much history to flush down the dunny.

Wests Ashfield has left the door open for Balmain to rise from the ashes, and goes about maintaining Balmains obligations to juniors without much fanfare. Their seats on the WT board returned when debt is repaid. I dont know how they could be any more compassionate to Balmains state of affairs, or why you are so upset.

It’s part of the overall problem. We are magpies in reggies, tigers in jersey flegg. We play at 6 home grounds. We have no identity . Our identity needs to be wests tigers playing at one home ground with one team.
