I wonder if the "Luke Garner is maybe the confusion (in another thread) where there was speculation we had signed Nathan Gardner.

Its all the one entity. A new ISP team for 2018 serves a few purposes including tradition which NSW Cup has with teams like Newtown & Norths. All of the above contributes to a strong and successful WESTS TIGERS. Different branded ISP teams has not stopped Dragons, Roosters, Souths and Cronulla tasting NRL premiership success in recent years.

Things are looking solid for 2018 both NRL Level and everything else in NSWRL Levels.

Interesting to see Leo Epifania’s strategic overview from a few years ago. Wests own the WT so will do whatever is in Wests Magpies best interest… Given the Magpies are financial, why did they need to merge in the first place?

Because the NRL wanted to go to 14 teams and the Magpies didn’t meet the criteria. The NRL were offering incentives for club to merge.
