Maguire floats idea of coaching role for Farah after he retires

Coaching could be one option for Robbie Farah once he retires after Michael Maguire floated the idea past him.
Farah is ''99 per cent sure'' he will hang up the boots at the end of a year which is likely to include his 300th NRL game, and has slowly given thought to what awaits him after 17 years in the top flight.

While he has his successful sports travel business Two4Seven, and the promised ambassador's role at the Tigers he says he is likely to take up, Farah and Maguire have also spoken about some coaching.
"There are certain parts of coaching that have appeal, but whether it would be a part-time role or working with the hookers, and whether that passion develops I'm not sure,'' Farah told the Herald.
"I take it upon myself to try and help out the other boys here at training, including Jacob [Liddle]. It was the same at the Rabbitohs with 'Cooky' [Damien Cook].
"It's something I enjoy, and having played the game so long, I've had the ups and downs and learned a lot. It's about passing on as much knowledge as I can to the younger guys coming through.''
Mick Ennis just last week took on a consultancy role one day a week with Canberra where he would help with their ruck attack, something that could work for Farah.
Halfback Luke Brooks liked the idea of Farah moving into coaching and said: "He's got plenty of experience in the game and he's got plenty of knowledge. He'd be good. But he might be an angry coach. I wouldn't want to get on his bad side. There would be plenty of sprays.''
One thing Farah does know is he got it right by not pulling the pin on his stellar career at the end of last season.
"There have been a couple of times when I've been training in 40-degree heat and just getting flogged where I've thought, 'what am I doing?','' Farah said.
"But if anything, the way I've trained, I've been out there pretty much every day at training and competing with the boys, I feel like I've still got some good footy in me, so in hindsight I would have regretted walking away last year, considering how my body feels at the moment and how I'm going at training.''
Farah is expected to start at No. 9 as his understudy Liddle finds his feet. He has no idea if he will be expected to play 80 minutes.
The 35-year-old said the No. 6 dilemma is also a beauty between Benji Marshall and Josh Reynolds, which prompted him to declare ''there's no other club out there with the two quality five-eighths we've got''.
"We might not have those marquee names and superstar players, but collectively as a group we're excited about what we can achieve,'' Farah said.
