Maguire full of praise for ageless Farah

Benji has been very up and down for the past year. Not consistent enough for first grade. He made 4 errors in the first half alone against Manly. A better team would have made us pay. His form towards the end of last year was excruciating.
Reynolds, well no-one knows what he can do because he hasn't had a shot. If he's not fit, play him in NSW cup. Not playing him at all is the worst thing we could do with him right now.

Robbie was helpful in this game as kicking from dummy half in the wet is a good tactic. His first try was lucky, his second was down to matulino creating the space which he then took advantage of. Farah wasn't our best (matterson, aloiai, thompson) but the old man scoring twice at leichhardt was always going to get MOM

Benji was error riddled and Robbie merely helpful? Lol Open your eyes.
Benji and Farah took control of this game and played Manly out of it with experienced tactics perfectly suited to the conditions.
Had Reynolds or Liddle been there would they have strangled their opposition or would they have followed Brooks' lead and pushed passes and kicks trying to score more points? I certainly think the latter.
Ever heard the story of the old bull and the young bull up on the hill overlooking the herd? Ask your dad sometime.

Storm forwards good example. They have skill but primarily run over people and bash in defence. Solomona, Finucane, Bromwich.

Another good example would be tamulolo.. all of his linebreamd.. were from him being passed a short flat pass.. and him then just barrelling over

Matulino should have got more props than Farah for his second try to be honest…

And it wasn't only that one, with his consistently quick play the ball the catalyst for space on the next play.

Yea! I've heard that story - maybe the old bull is too old and falls down the hill.

Back to the topic - not talking here about whether Benji and Robbie played well, bad. to the conditions etc. etc.

The point is you are assuming that Reynolds and Liddle would have pushed passes and kicks to score points. You don't know that.

By making that statement you are trying to bolster your argument. They may have played better than Benji and Robbie on the day in the conditions, they may have played worse - We'll never know Kev.

Russell, in a way Liddle is fortunate there is an golden oldie available to substitute that should ensure that Jacob is well and truly fit for NRL when the time comes. Jacob's first chance was premature. I also miss seeing Liddle play but also appreciate an old master displaying every trick in the book.

Did you see Damian Cook's two grubbers on the weekend - exact replicas of Farah's mastery. Farah coached and pushed Cook to that level - now the ball is in Jacob's court. I don't why the commentators could not see the old master's hand in those kicks.

Yes it was an assumption based upon an educated guess formed from historical evidence.
It might be wrong.
One thing I do know is that after a long hot off season, thesse two guys got the nod to start based upon hard work and the new coach trusting them. That tells me more about the younger guys than the older ones.
Theyll get their chance…when they earn it.

@byronbayfan. I actually muttered that out loud about Cook’s grubbers at the time. It had Farah all over it.

I reckon Matulino and Packer were both great. We have a pretty good middle forward rotation. Packer offers some pretty decent ball playing. Matulino is a solid prop with no real down side. Packer and Mats don't have that explosive ability to get us going forward and really dent the line but Aloiai and Mikaele offer that. Twal is also solid and goes hard. ET is a great worker as is Eisenhuth.

Our pack is looking pretty good.

Our play makers did what was required. Brooks was the worst at game management but hopefully he just had one shocker in that regard.

I can't believe Liddle/Reynolds are even being mentioned in the same breath as Farah/Benji.

Robbie and Benji totally dominated Manly with skill and experience. They should have a mortgage on 6/9.

Having them on the field takes so much pressure off pressure off Brooks. We had three real aces up our sleeve in attack whereas Manly really just had DCE - who Benji and Robbie isolated in attack and wore out pretty quickly.

JT had rocks in his head when he said Brooks would shine without Robbie.

Really? Luke looked pretty bloody good and well on his way to winning the Daily M without him for the majority of the year.
