Maguire post match comments insanity?

Maguire, Brooks and Noffo need to be shown the door asap to let the healing begin. Good luck keeping Stefano with better clubs banging down the door pre season. I really don't know how each player can be happy collecting their pay this week.

Best of luck Madge I am sure you genuinely have it your all but after that performance the team does not want to play for you.

Let’s also clean our some board members as well and start from the top.
Heard said payout $750k ???? Thought the club had an option not to renew another 2 years or have I missed something ?

They are largely untouchable. The only way those incompetents leave is when they croak.

I'm sure any new coach will want Brooks and Nofoaluma in their squad. The failure to get the best from players falls on Maguire.

Does anyone think that maybe Madge would be more suited to working in the recruiting side of things or doing something else in the background with WestsTigers.

He clearly has a lot of passion for the club and desperately wants to see WestsTigers succeed as an NRL power house maybe just not as it’s coach.

I don't think a guy who players don't want to play for ... should be involved in recruitment.

Some one like Farah.
Or Lawrence.
Or bringing back Benji.
They'd be selling points for recruitment.

Madge doesn't have a place in the game any more.

He looks like a broken man. That “yep” when asked if he was the coach to turn the club around was far from convincing. His voice almost broke. Part of me feels sorry for him. His heart is in the right place, but he’s drinking from a poison chalice.

Bang on the money. Problem is the poisoners will survive but the fall guys just keep on coming and going.
Until the club get rid of the white ants nothing will change - it's a never-ending Game of Thrones this dump of a club.

Sorry buy I don't think they are cpable of going above what they have now unless they leave the club. They're too comfortable serving up the same pooh pie regardless of who is coach.

What is there really left for Madge to say?

He was hard on, they sooked.
Went easy on them, they lose games in an embarrassing fashion.

He's a problem but he's not the only problem...
We've heard for years now, the players call the shots at the Tigers.
A lot of those guys are gone.

Monkey see, Monkey do.
It's time to move on from those who continue to rock the boat within the club.

There is a baseline over the years and the remaining key figures are... everyone's favourites.

Justin Pascoe.
Michael "Fall Guy" Maguire
Luke "The Qtr Pounder" Brooks
David Nofoaluma.

Nofo is about as good as Esan Masters.
Time to make some deals and get a fresh start immediately and try everything we can to retain our players who actually try.

There is the element of the guy who has failed relationship after failed relationship, and every time blames everything on the woman, in us.

Maguire absolutely deluded: “I know exactly where the team is going and the organisation knows where the team is going”

So according to his ‘logic’ it was his plan for the side to leak 30 points a game this season. To let in seven tries to the wooden spooners, have no line breaks against the worst defensive side in the competition and clearly must’ve known the Tigers NRL team would go backwards under his coaching every year he has been here.

Was that his pitch in the job interview back in 2018? “I’m the man to take over Cleary. I know you guys were 9th this year with the 6th best defensive record but if you want to improve the club long term, then I’m the man to lead this club to 9th, 11th & 13th placed finishes. But that’s not all…I’ll take that middle of the road 6th best defensive record in 2018 and deliver the second worst defence in the comp by 2021.”

“Ohhh lots of points per game? That sounds exciting! You’re hired!!” Pascoe.

It’s a shame Maguire never told the members or fans that the club would need to get worse every year under his watch because if he did, we too would’ve tempered our expectations and understood years ago exactly where the team was going under Maguire. Backwards.

It’s always a good sign when you hear the head of any football department complaining about missing/injured players - Bellamy, robinson even Cleary whinge never about players missing. Ever. Don’t think the Rorters have complained once this year about the size of their injury toll (only the man at in which they were injured). I’m any event, successful leaders celebrate it as opportunity. The next man up will do his job and do it well. But not at the Tigers. Jimmy Tamou and Luke Garner and James Roberts and all these other winners that have led/steered the team to loss after loss this season will suddenly become winners after their time on the sidelines?

This supposed ‘leader’ is making excuse after excuse and keeps taking about sticking to a path. The path to losing? The path to averaging 40+ missed tackles per game? He blamed Ivan for the salary cap mess, he blames missing senior players and covid shutdown affecting game time of younger players not playing week in week out…but no other coach is whinging or trotting out this crap. Is covid only affecting the tigers. Clearly the game has moved beyond Maguire and his ‘systems’. Once he had the answers. Now he is an assistant coach at best.

Because calling the players and their efforts out won't work...
**He's backing his players - The same as all the guys that came before him do - Same as most coaches do.**
Won't help him in the end - They're not man enough to own it...
Happy to blame a ref or a coach...

Agree, plus providing reasoning isn't exactly absolving all responsibilities. Believe he's the only one facing the music tbh.
His inability to make necessary team changes and Interchange use has been my biggest issues with him. I've also been vocal with wanting to see better assistant coaches. But this week we probably had the weakest team line up, and player availability, for the year.

What I'd love to know is who is the motormouth blabbering to Chammas about everything. Sounds like it's coming from within the ranks and to me this (airing dirty laundry) is what I'd actually perceive as washing your hands of something.
The club needs to start preserving or showing some sort of dignity.

This airing of laundry externally goes back to the Potter days !

Madge doesn't have a place in the game any more.

When I watched the first episode of the documentary the first thing that struck me was the incredibly awkward tense atmosphere.
Madge would talk and get zero feedback from the players.
Even when he tried to talk one on one the players would nod like a disengaged teenage son listening to his dad.
It was uncomfortable to watch.

The end of season review won’t paint a good light on Madge but the fact it is being conducted by Pascoe and Hartigan is not ok. Those 2 have just as much to do with the current mess as Madge - if not more. Whoever signs off on the deals such as Mbye, Reynolds, Packer, BJ, Roberts etc has to be accountable to. We talk about changing the culture but when you bring in players like that you get the culture we have. The review needs to be done by an independent and be from top to bottom.

Have to laugh at people suggesting replacements......

Flanagan just gets me laughing all day - keep it up guys. Next you'll be suggesting Josh Hannay......oh please, stop it, my sides are hurting.......

Fair enough don't see them as being good myself but who would you 'realistically' be aiming for (available and willing to come)?

I do not think Pascoe will escape all of this just not ATM… dealing with the coaching and player situation is paramount and needs fixing within weeks .
Pascoes time will come as he has been in charge for all of this mess !

Probably not the worst of our wide array of issues but Maguire mentioned "We had Daine Laurie, Adam Doueihi, Jimmy Tamou, Luke Garner, James Roberts, there's a number of senior players that add to what we need to do. We've got a number of players that with those names can steer a strong team around”.

Correct me if I’m wrong but James Roberts has been 18th man for at least 2 or 3 of the last 4 weeks and our coach is saying his absence is part of what cost us the match??? Who selects the team?

More early mad Monday madness

He also made mention of 10-12 players unavailable that would come back.
To get to those numbers he must have included Packer, Mbye and B.J.

You have to laugh.

I don't understand the anger directed at Pascoe or Hartigan. Pascoe has our club in the black which in turn allowed more resources for the football dept. Hartigan has recruited some of the best young talent we have had at the club. Our U21s were the best. Our junior recruitment for next year looks to be outstanding.

It was Pascoe who engaged Sheens and provided the funding for additional resources in the football club. I make the observation that perhaps Pascoe well knew Maguire was out of his depth, hence Sheens.
