For the love of god please don’t be Madge. It’s probably Todd Payten though

Something fishy going on with the articles out yesterday

Where there’s smoke there’s fire. Something had happened with Madge I think. This is no good

There's only one other coach that comes to mind. That being Bennett. Guess, we'll find out soon enough.

It’s his last year anyway though right? Who else could it be though. It’s either Payten or Madge

Would also explain the body language from the team last Friday night. When he was giving it to them they didn't seem to care.

I hope this isn't true. Even though I don't rate Madge as highly as others on here do, we can't afford to start all over again.

Did you see them after the game? Looked like someone had just died. Doubt the players knew about anything going on with head office at all.

We can’t afford to start over that’s for sure

If he does go then we need to do a huge clean out top to bottom. Pascoe has been through more coaches than Elizabeth Taylor's had husbands.

Most people on twitter saying it's Madge, and the articles yesterday and today indicate it too. Unfortunately can't see who else it could possibly be.

Todd Payten technically is a current NRL coach. Don't fall for the click-bait.

Yeah, and he’s openly admitted to wanting to coach there. It’s most likely him but with our luck who knows.

2021 last season for Wayne

Madge could be just agitating to lock down an extension. Wouldn't read too much into the chair kicking, he backed into the chair, looked like he was just kicking it away so he didn't go arse up. It wasn't a Grub locker room conversion like a few years back.

He was pissed as we started well, fell away and got bullied out of the game. He's been trying to turn this club's weak attitude in defence around and it has looked good for a few weeks only for it to fall in a screaming heap again. I'd be frustrated too.

Who could blame Madge. That loss to the Warriors was unforgivable. Year after Year its the same old story . They asked to give their all for just eighty minutes per week & they seem incapable of that. It is beyond frustrating & I wouldn't blame Madge for thinking its mission impossible.

A current NRL coach is at risk of being outed after secretly going behind the back of his club to potentially join the Cowboys.

From an original list of 20 applicants, eight coaches are being closely analysed by the North Queensland Cowboys board with a selection panel set to appoint the club’s replacement to Paul Green within the next six weeks.

But in what could develop into a major story, News Corp has learned that one of the coaches to originally indicate their appeal in replacing Green is an NRL coach who is contracted with his current club next year.

Sources have confirmed the Cowboys were shocked to receive interest from the on-contract NRL coach.

The development has the potential to cause long-term implications – not for the Cowboys, but for the club of which the coach is contracted.

Wests Tigers chair Lee Hagipantelis was quick to smother whispers within the game over the past 48-hours that had Tigers coach Michael Maguire connected to the Cowboys.

Hagipantelis told News Corp on Tuesday that the club had been assured Maguire had no plans to walk out on the final year of his deal to pursue an opportunity

“Discussions have been held with Michael who has assured us he has no interest in entertaining discussion with any other club while he is contracted to the West Tigers, which is a very refreshing and commendable attitude,” Hagipantelis said.

Following Green’s exit last month, Wayne Bennett had also been linked to the Cowboys – after going close to joining the club in 2008.

The super coach has since ruled out applying for the Cowboys job.

News Corp understands while there are as many as eight lead candidates, five individuals are of most interest to the Cowboys.

They include interim Warriors coach Todd Payten, former Newcastle coach Nathan Brown, former Penrith and Brisbane coach Anthony Griffin, Storm assistant Jason Ryles and Cowboys interim coach Josh Hannay.

Payten remains the short-priced favourite to secure the Cowboys post after rejecting a formal offer to coach the Warriors full time, however both Brown and Griffin, with their NRL experience and a focus on the development of players, carry plenty of appeal.

Hannay has also impressed the club with his professionalism in taking over the reins from Green for the remainder of the season.

The interview process for the Cowboys role is expected to begin next week.

Madge hasn't been a supporter of the club for X amount of years tho. He hasn't had to endure what we've had to, so we are in entirely different boats when it comes to frustration. Don't let what Ivan did cause you to think every coach will jump ship when the going gets tough.

Welp nothing new I guess. Next.

Did the article explicitly say 'Head Coach' or just 'Coach'?...

Could be referring to HC, assistant coach, kicking coach lol.

If I had to draw up a list then you could choose from any of - Madge, Uncle Wayne, Mary, John Morris, Seibold, Payten & Barrett...

It's coming from the Telegraph, so take it with a grain of salt

Can we keep MaGuire's contract discussion in the 1 thread please..

Thank you...

Is it possible that the current NRL coach is Jason Ryles. The long term implications could be to the storm as I’d say they have a succession plan in place for Bellamys retirement?

Maguire is part of a group of coaches who could justifiably be regarded as elite. Has had success both here and overseas and, despite Matterson and his ilk, seems to be a coach guys like to play for. We should seriously consider a longer term deal before he gets poached by another club. Good coaches do not grow on trees and we do not want another Cleary in the joint!

I’m a big fan of McGuire. I hope he sticks around to finish what he has started. I’ve always wanted a coach who showed some emotion and dropped players who weren’t performing. He’s a massive improvement on the last 3 coaches we’ve had. With the roster we’ve had and the amount of money being tied up by 3 non performing players , not even Craig Bellamy could have done better with this squad. I also like how we are recruiting the best youngsters and really building something long term. If cowboys are dangling a $5million 5 year contract in front of him then we are in huge trouble.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's Mary or Seibold. They are 2 coaches walking the line atm and might want to jump before they are pushed.

Even Todd Patten, his departure from the the warriors could have major implications for them also..
