Maguire Signs Until End of 2023

Can we get the guys name right? It's Maguire, not McGuire, or MaGuire.

You're all giving me Forest Whitaker eye.

People spelled Farah wrong for years and he’s one of our longest serving players 😂 don’t think they’ll be getting Maguire right

I wouldn't be surprised if it's Mary or Seibold. They are 2 coaches walking the line atm and might want to jump before they are pushed.

Even Todd Patten, his departure from the the warriors could have major implications for them also..

they didn't mention Cowboys management bursting out in laughter so it couldn't be Mary or Seibold.

Maguire is part of a group of coaches who could justifiably be regarded as elite. Has had success both here and overseas and, despite Matterson and his ilk, seems to be a coach guys like to play for. We should seriously consider a longer term deal before he gets poached by another club. Good coaches do not grow on trees and we do not want another Cleary in the joint!

What happened at Souths if the players liked to play for him 🤷‍♂️

Couldn't care less about that mob. Only concerned what he can do for us.

Had a bit to do with his understudy as well.

“Discussions have been held with Michael who has assured us he has no interest in entertaining discussion with any other club while he is contracted to the West Tigers, which is a very refreshing and commendable attitude,” Hagipantelis said.

Dig at Cleary? I like it.

Doubt Cleary will even hear it up there on top of the ladder.

Cleary will get his own back in some form or another
And when he does it will be oh so sweet
I would say he still cops it every day for what he did to our club
Just the other day the media called him out for the way he left the Tigers in a salary cap mess and how he walked out on us
It would have got back to him fast
I hope the pressure continues to build on that mug
I would rather Roosters or Parramatta win the Grand final
Anyone but Penrith
Just so I can see the disappointment in his face

I’d buy a Panther jersey and membership before I would cheer Mitchell Moses on.

I wouldn't cheer Mitchell on but if I had to choose it would be Parramatta over Penrith
I don't ever want that Doosh Bag to win a premiership
With a bit of luck Mitchell would either be suspended or injured so he can't play
Then its a win win
Or a lose lose depending how you look at it

And don't give Cleary any reason to smile with your comments
Rating him above Mitchell is a little win in his books
I know you are confused but those comments will make him feel better and none of us want that

The chances of Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire landing the vacant North Queensland Cowboys coaching role are negative, no and less than zero.
It won’t be happening.

Maguire has told Fox Sports he is committed to the Tigers, has made no approach to North Queensland and wants to win a premiership at Concord.

“I am 100 per cent committed to Wests Tigers,” Maguire said.

“I want to remain a part of this club building towards a premiership.

“I have no idea where any of the speculation has come from but let’s put it to bed.

“I am focused on the Wests Tigers. I have a contract here until the end of next year.”

Why would the North Queensland Cowboys sack a hard-edged, authoritarian, take-no-nonsense coach in Paul Green and replace him with a virtual carbon copy?

The logic of it is so stupid only the most easily-led, naive types would fall for it.

That’s not to say somebody claiming to represent Maguire hasn’t picked up the telephone to someone at the Cowboys and thrown a dart at the board.

After all, the Cowboys are a powerful club rich in resources and boast a roster brimming with talent.

And this is rugby league, where contracts and rules are broken and rewritten every other day.

The Cowboys committee tasked with drawing up a short-list of candidates for the vacant head coaching position consists of long-time club power broker Peter Parr, chief executive Jeff Reibel and chief operating officer Micheal Luck.

This trio are scheduled to meet on Wednesday to shorten the list of applicants.

There could be six, seven, maybe eight names on the Cowboys short list.

Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire will not be one of those names.

Besides the fact Maguire is signed until the end of next season, the Cowboys have no intention to approach a coach under contract.

North Queensland are livid at the suggestion they’ve even been linked to the coach known as Madge.

Go back to when they appointed Paul Green at the end of 2013.

Neil Henry was sacked mid-season, Ian Millward took over as the interim coach and then the Cowboys went through a thorough process before appointing Green.

Given the fact Green then won the club its maiden premiership in 2015, it’s easy to understand why the Cowboys will follow the same process.

Parr, Reibel and Luck will draw up an initial short list on Wednesday.

They’ll then narrow this list to most likely three candidates over the coming weeks.

These candidates will then be interviewed by a panel of club power brokers which may even end up containing the likes of a club legend such as Johnathan Thurston or Matt Scott.

Only then will the Cowboys land on their new head coach.

It won’t be Michael Maguire.

Of course Maguire is a premiership-winning coach who knows what it takes to build a roster, create culture and most importantly, win.

The Tigers do not want to let him go. He has no desire to leave the Wests Tigers.

And the Cowboys have no desire to approach a coach who is very similar to the one they just sacked.

**ARTICLE POSTED..so there is no need to give Pooper clicks..**

Hopefully Madge is a man of his word. He says he hasn’t spoken to them and I believe him, decent chance his manager gave them a call though.
