Trouble here is that he did so at half time when a constructive approach was almost certainly more appropriate.

I can't agree with criticism of Madge's half time spray.

I'm no football sage, but I thought there were some very worrying signs emerging by the half time break.

We were clearly being out-enthused by the Warriors and we were losing the middle. I wasn't optimistic that we would win at that stage.

I reckon Madge saw that too and was looking for more effort.

You are entitled to believe that ranting is the best approach, though through the camera lens in the dressing room, I witnessed a group that was not being lifted by that on Friday.

Shows you how dumb they are then imo.

Was that a rant ? Describing that as a rant is a bit too pejorative for me:

To rant (verb): to scold vehemently; to utter in a bombastic declamatory fashion.

I would prefer to describe Madge's address as him exhorting the boys:

To exhort (verb): to strongly encourage or urge (someone) to do something.

I don't know what Madge said or how he said it, but I'm assuming he was being constructive and as far as I'm concerned constructive advice, delivered passionately, is OK by me.

The chair was in the way and he kicked it backwards. I have bigger rants at work.

I agree, been blown out of proportion IMHO..

Always depends on how the rant is directed. If it's based around passion and a desire to win, it's a good thing. But if it's just general screaming without a basis or singling people out in the room, then that's not great.

Can’t believe people are upset about the coach telling off our players for not being good enough.... isn’t that what we’ve been begging for for years?

They deserved the spray and they’ve deserved to be dropped. This is the only way to get it into the players heads that what they’re dishing up ain’t good enough. I’m completely supportive of the hard nosed approach, multiple other top coaches do the same.

No Ivan

Yeah, probably Ivan, he's got form in that department.

**Hooper Warning**

TIGERS NEVER CALLED MAGUIRE FOR A PLEASE EXPLAIN

There’s a couple of crucial details around the Michael Maguire link with the North Queensland Cowboys which need clarification.

Firstly, there was no meeting between the Wests Tigers and Maguire about the premiership-winning coach pitching up at the Cowboys.

That’s not to say Maguire’s name hasn’t been pushed forward to Cowboys management.

But the Tigers never called Maguire in for a please explain.

The truth is Tigers powerbrokers have been in discussions with Maguire about an extension beyond 2021 for months now.

The Tigers want Maguire to lead the club’s march back towards credibility and remain confident they will strike an upgraded deal in the near future.

Maguire is adamant he has played no role in the Cowboys link and North Queensland will not be pursuing the premiership-winning coach.

No one in their right mind would send Marsters to a club then go there shortly after.

Hahahahaha. I have to agree with that. It would be a symptom of insanity.

let's hope Hooper's mail is right for a change and Madge, Lee and Pascoe are not too far away from announcing an extension. Maguire is the only person apart from Bellamy that could fix this mess.

Okay Mr Hadley and co, what did you guys see during and as a result of the coach's rant? And nobody is exhorting anything when aggressively finger pointing.

The Maguire fans will think nothing of the rant and the ones not sold on him will be critical.
It's not too difficult to work out which camp people are in. Very rare for any coach to enjoy the full support of the fan base. For all we know there could be friends and family of players on here who have been dropped.

And thats why the group won’t play finals footy.
They lack the hunger & drive to be consistent.

Alright, just had to watch another nothing story on channel 9 news about Maguire telling the team he's not going to the cowboys. Unless anyone is announcing a contract extension, let's give this thread some time out. It's not worth anymore air atm.

Ivan has them finger ‘painting’ .. “Ooh nice colour scheme there Esan, give me some Art Deco style geometric swirls and you’re in first grade again next week....”
Finger ‘pointing’ is more appropriate given the lack of consistent performance by some players - poor return on investment.

Hooper is pretty close to the club.
