If he is playing fullback , he will be behind Stewart and Hiku

Hiku impresses me

If they keep Foran and DCE long term he won't see first grade until they DCE plays SOO

Where will he get a long term starting position ??

Matai is 29 so I think he's got another few years in him. Like I said before, good luck to him but I think he's going to have to lift it up a notch to actually play NRL and not just be a squad member. I get the idea that Manly's structure heavily depends on having a lot of real cheapies to round things out.
 
good luck to him, must admit I'm a little surprised he got a top squad contract. I do like the guy so I'm very happy for him and hope he makes a good go of it
 
I've noticed manly do have a lot of players they do not use in their first grade team. Will be interesting to see how he develops.
 
He's really found his stride playing in the centres. I definitely think that's his position. Never really settled in at five-eighth or fullback. Matai and Lyon aren't getting any younger, so maybe Manly are looking to build for the future.
 
i didn't think he had anywhere near the impact in the centres than he had at fullback. he needs space to move, but cant really create it himself. not really a hole runner. decent at youth level but unlikely to make nrl unless he really applies himself and improves a lot!
 
I'm going to say it right now - no big loss, we have much better juniors ahead of him.

If he suddenly and immensely lifts his game at Manly, let's not have another run of the "oh dear why did we let Fifita go" routine.

For sure! Hiku is a champion in the making IMO, he just stepped into 1st grade and performed impressively like he had been around for 100 or so games. Manly will be facing a tough choice between him and Stewart in the next year or two.
