The fall in our completion rates and ill discipline has cost us over the last 6 weeks. Often we are battling against a 45 vs 55% possession rate. We haven't controlled the ball….yet many here are advocating that we give the halves more freedom with the ball?
Against the Roosters and without the ball I thought Moses and Brooks were solid in defence last Friday (most of the tries came from kicks and through Lovett). It was a step up on our previous effort against the Roosters when Cordner and Co ran through Moses all night.
Don't underestimate the impact that constant shuffling in the centres and backrow have affected our edge defence. Sirro made a big difference last week and Lawrence has helped tighten up his side. Unfortunately we have to shuffle again.
I think a good move Halatau to backrow tonight. At least we have two relative experienced edge defenders tonight.
Improvement is often not linear and occurs at varying rates.

And now 2015 has changed, after last night's result, 22.74 points per game. This is the 6th best average we've had. The diff of 3.55 points per game is quite significant.

Of course defence is important. I don't think that anyone has said anything differently to that. You can't though just defend and have no attack.
If JT can put a good structure in place defensively and offensively then that is great and I will support the guy 100%. I think that he is starting to put together some more solid game plans. I think for instance that he is giving Moses more control of the team and Moses in my opinion looks really good with the increased involvement.

We are doing marginally better defensively this year with a vastly more inexperienced side….i would call that an improvement. Next year we may see a quantum leap as our young guys get stronger and more experienced.....our other options are to recruit a bunch of cheap journeyman who may make us slightly more competitive but would get us nowhere long term.
Exhibit A Cronulla. Next few years they lose Gallen, Lewis, Ennis, Gordon, Heighno, Tupou...they are competitive this year but are going nowhere long-term ditto Newcastle, Canberra, St George, Manly. I would not swap our list with any of these teams when I take a 2-3yr view.

Losing Simona after 10 mins in about 4-5 games has been really costly…..last year it was Fulton.

On average, teams that make the finals concede less than 20.49 points per game. We are at 22.74 right now.
Of course attack comes into it, but just looking purely at the defensive records of finals sides.
