Manly player to be suspended

Stupid they can't bet on other games. Anywhere they cannot impact the result should be a free for all. Doesn't take a genius to work out to get your mum, brother, wife or mate to make the bet for you. Takes a compete fool to get caught with that scenario available.

And what does the NRL expect when they jam gambling site advertising down our throats every possible minute they can squeeze them into the broadcasts.

you think the nrl can be bothered to set up an entire division to ensure the players are not betting on their own games?

it also sets up a culture of betting on NRL within players giving a temptation to bet on their own games and also match fixing.

it's so much easier to put a blanket ban than have crap like this happening several times a year.

Can't agree with your first paragraph, players should not bet on the sport that they play.Second paragraph, however, is spot on but probably has more to do with the broadcasters. If the NRL don't want the game associated with this kind of scandal, they should have made it a condition of winning the broadcasting rights - no betting advertising before or during the game. Then we'd see whether dollars or the reputation of the game is more important.

Jockeys are not allowed to bet even if they are not riding in the race they are betting on. It is to stamp out collusion which may involve big betting gamblers.

The Tele thinks Manly may boot Williams over this, he was out of first grade anyway. I think they might be right for a change.

Daily Telegraph has already spoken to one high-ranking Sydney club official who expressed a strong interest in throwing him a lifeline for 2015.

Hate to read into the telecrap's inuendo, but which Sydney club has a history of picking up other team's disciplinary problems on the cheap?
