Manlys game plan.

Well they have a few options

Trying to get their big blokes in one on ones with Brooks and Austin

Isolating both our centres

And if our middle third hasn't added a teaspoon of concrete that's a good as option as any

Manly never deviate far from their usual structure. They will play tough up the middle, rely on quick play the ball and they use their edge runners very effectively on both sides of the field. Throw Stewart into the mix and they always ask plenty of questions. If we don't seriously improve our completions and win the possession battle we will get destroyed.

Our game plan: complete our sets, kick into the corners and then smash their ball runners with our big pack…..just like last time

First 20 minutes will be the key. They will remember the previous round and will come out and try to blow us off the park early with aggression.

If we hold our own, plus give a bit back, we are a chance. Plus, it could get spiteful…

Not worried about Brooks being isolated, he chops down boppers on his own. His defensive technique is fantastic given he was a bit of a speed hump to start with.

Austin is a very average defender when he has to move laterally. More worried about the centres not hitting and sticking. If we manage to hide Lulia and Lawrence we may have a shot at this, got plenty of strike power up front to match with them.

The issue CB is usually that the opposition will get a quick play the ball and then can focus their next play at Austin or our centres

That's the big issue , Manly have far more targets in the line to target with Austin in the line as well as Brooks ,Lulia and Lawrence

If we play Austin at fullback you can put Moses on the wing in defence as he is good under the high ball and will only have to make a few tackles

There was a little article in this evenings MX paper about Toovey absolutely ripping into his team about coming out of the blocks hard against the Tigers.

They are determined to avenge their embarrassing defeat earlier in the year and claim equal first on the NRL ladder.

I for one will be tipping Manly. Two best centres in the comp verse the two worst. It will take a monumental effort for us to win this imo.

The Panthers threw bodies in motion at us on the edges with ease on Sunday… Manly are the best in the comp at doing this, plus they have a new lease of life with Brett Stewart finding his speed again.

They will be tight in the forwards, and will have too much structure in attack for our forever-changing defensive pattern.

I hate to say this, but this could get scary!

if stewart wasn't playing i'd definitely give us a massive shot at pulling off another upset. but i feel like he will have a great game.

containing him (somehow) and having brooks/moses firing will definitely allow us to stay in the hunt.

Tigers have not put a good game together for months, to think they could upset Manly at Brookvale is just madness.

On form we are just marginally in front of the raiders, yes injuries have been an issue, but the team is playing without any spark and look like a team hoping the season will end. They are now having problems with the basic skills of the game.

If Manly are serious we will be done and dusted within 30 minutes. I think the pressure is starting to climb on our coaching staff and they do not have the answers

What you see tonight is the future starting to take shape ,there are 3 19 year olds on show and half the team has limited NRL experience , I do agree I think the coaching staff are now being shown they to are inexperienced and feeling the heat .
Manly only have to play to 2 players there are plenty points to be had there.the team has not had a real big touch up this season I hope it does not start tonight .

If we smash them hard enough through the middle they will fall apart. There centres and back rowers come too far in to help defend the middle when they are being smashed there.
If we can do this relentlessly all night and complete our sets we will see holes open up. It is whether Lawrence and Luila are capable of getting through or putting their wingers through that will define the game.
Manly can make as many errors as anyone when they start backpeddling. The obstacle is though all it takes is one error from us and they can pile on points.

Farah controlling the ruck and winning repeat sets will be key to victory.
