Marika Koroibete

This is a good example of our lack of foresight. Most on the forum knew Koro was a star a few years ago. Why don't we lock up rookies with huge upside on long term deals when they are cheap. Why all this garbage with 1-2 year deals? JAC will be the next Koro. i would lock him up on a 5 year $600k deal who knows he may go for it with no experience.

That's what the eels did with Semi, then he realised he was underpaid and now wants out…

It's obvious Bellamy can see a future for JAC, which makes you wonder why we cant?
At present we have a fill -in winger holding down one spot (and doing a reasonable job out of position).
Surely we can't let this kid go.

Because Taylor isn't Bellamy

Exactly, it just sets them up for union to come in and poach them. Union seemed to have lost interest in it for a while but it looks like they've got league players back in their sights. The Eels signed Semi up to 4 years at $250K but I'll be very surprised if he sees the contract out at that rate given how much his value has gone up.

Why do most ppl believe rugby does the poaching? Fact, most of the rugby league Islanders and Kiwis are poached from rugby union first! I love a good game of rugby or league. Go Weststigers!

Or maybe Bellamy sees a cheap alternative to Koro as to invest money elsewhere

Wests Tigers did that a few years ago with Brooks and Moses and the jury is still out deciding whether it has been worth it.

Because rugby has poached established international players like Tuqiri, Folau, Rogers, Tahu, Gasnier, Gower, Wing, SBW, Burgess and Sailor and have also poached (in recent years) established (if in some cases naff) NRL players like Robinson, Duffie, Cross, Schifcofske and now possibly Koroibete. It's fair game when it's done at the junior level or when someone is plucked out of NSW Cup (like Naiyaravoro) but it's poaching when big money is thrown around to lure known talent playing at the top level across.

Marika will fit right in with the rugby boys , can't catch and can't tackle

If that was Marika's last game in League it certainly wasn't a memorable one

Robinson was mainly playing reserve grade. If Canberra and Penrith consistently picked him in first grade he would still be playing rugby league. He didn't go for the money.

I think you will find Koro has been signed not only because of his football ability, but as a drawcard to try and attract the Melbourne Fijian community to get behind the Rebels, at least that was what I was told by a bloke who is pretty high up in rugby circles

He was at Parra after Canberra and he played 20 games in the season he left for the Tahs (2015). He may not have gone for the money but he was a first grader.

A lot of those guys have backgrounds in RU, so you could argue they were merely going back rather than being poached.
