Marika Koroibete

Written by THE MOLE , May 8, 2016

THE MELBOURNE Rebels rugby franchise are chasing Storm cult hero Marika Koroibete — but they’re facing some surprise opposition for his signature.

Strong reports suggest the Wests Tigers, who released the Fijian flyer midway through 2014, are keen to get him back to add some real strike power to their backline.

Koroibete couldn’t secure a regular spot under Mick Potter at the Tigers but has blossomed into one of the game’s best finishers at Melbourne in the past 12 months.

Last season he blazed over for 16 tries from 23 games and was dangerous against his old team at Leichhardt three weeks ago.

Koroibete could very well be wasted in the 15-a-side game, seeing little ball, whereas the Tigers’ attacking football would suit him.

The Storm are also keen to retain the speedster, but his price may be out of their range.

It’s also been reported that Storm, who recently secured the services of Eels back Ryan Morgan, are close to poaching Tigers flyer Josh Addo-Carr.

Carr’s only top-grade appearance came against the Storm back in round seven where he managed to score a try on debut. The performance apparently impressed Craig Bellamy who is very keen to lure him.

This article completely contridicts what what written in the Mole's last post about the Tigers but what do you guys make of this??

Think its BS but i hope he comes

1\. Tedesco
2\. Nofa
3\. Naiqama
4\. Simona
5\. Koroibete

That's an awesome backline, would cause mayhem

Potter didn't rate him before, we could have had him at a reduced rate, same thing is happening with Taylor and JAC. :crazy

Especially defending inside our own 20.

I thought we had huge salary cap problems. I don't think spending 350k+ on a winger is the smartest use of what appears to be limited funds.

I'd rather have Mansour then Koro tbh

Koro is hot and cold just like our backline as it is lol

Mansour is consistent and has better traits then Koro which includes better defense, better under the high ball and he's a better finisher

If we were willing to spend that much for a winger I'd rather Mansour

As someone once said.

No, No, No, No, NO!

He didn't want to stay - and we shouldn't take him back.
He is no better than JAC in my opinion and JAC-O will only get better.

Noffa and Simona are overrated by our supporter base.

Salary Cap is an excuse we have funds available.

Koro is more than a winger, he gets every set of 6 off to a big start and takes pressure off the forwards. having Teddy, Koro and Simona as our first 3 hit ups when the forwards are struggling to get back is invaluable. He is a machine.

Nofa hits the line hard as well

Would be even better to have both Koro & JAC. We would have the fastest back line in NRL.
*waits for "speed isn't everything" comments :blah

No doubt he does its just the speed and power Koro has is unrivalled. 2 years under Bellamy and he actually has been coached unlike Nofa.
