Wests Tigers chair Marina Go resigns

This is a pretty miss leading headline from nrl.com yes Ms Go will be moving on but not until a replacement is found…but I'm not surprised one bit...

A lot will just assume she resigned because of recent events..nice work Todd and your media clowns

Wow thats some good conspirscy their. I would say her new job means she doesent have the time to committ to Wests Tigers because your 3 options are just a little bit crazy especially number 2

We were forced to appoint independent directors when we were in debt to the NRL. Are we still required to have them, and who appoints them?

No and Ms Go was re-appointed by Wests Group when they took 75% ownership..

I think you will find while now not a requirement the Chair will be independent and are elected by the Wests Tigers board..

Ah, yea new job makes sense.

That being said. Board level conflicts of interest can cause resignations. The NRL appointed Go, now WT suing NRL, I could see this becoming difficult as Marina has to act in the clubs interest and I am unclear what her obligations are to the NRL
No I dont assume 'independant director' is totally independant. I would have to look at the contract.

Even Marina knows you dont bite the hand that feeds.

I don’t care where she goes , just as long as she leaves.
My only complaint is that she was appointed in the first place.
Thanks for the Taylor torture Marina.
Bye Bye

Stand by for some brain dead former politician to be appointed in her place. Who???
Too many choices. After putting Beattie in charge of the commission, nothing will surprise me. They could even resurrect Osama bin Laden for this one.

What? "we had great governance under Marina Go and balanced governance". Do you understand what governance is ? Clearly not.Its what got us into strife in the first place!
Oh,I forgot its not our fault, its Todd again.
Tiger_Steve, you must live in a parallel universe where its always someone else's fault.
Seriously, you don't have a clue.

She presided over a difficult period and did a good job for us. I’m sure the NRL appointment angle creates real potential for conflicts.

That said, a new Chair and another new independent will do us the world of good

I think we should stick to a business background, I don’t think football clubs have a lack of football knowledge, but they are maybe light on for corporate and governance experience

Barry O'Farrell. Might bring in Penfolds as major sponsor too.

Good on her I hope she unloads in Greenberg. Too much class to do that but we move forward. Buzz is a scoundrel it didn’t need to be said West’s control the board and make the decisions the new Chair will be a West’s Ashfield appointee. Simon Cook is the most credentialed.

That would be great: "now that I'm no longer a member of the Tigers board, let me provide some of my personal opinions…"

In reference to Marina leaving (to avoid a pun) she appears to have done a good job in a challenging role. It would not be easy, rugby league is still such a boys' club and it pleases me that old dinosaurs like Slothfield might have an issue dealing with a strong businesswoman.

But otherwise it's been >4 years and the chair is supposed to only have max 2 x 2 year terms? Marina said herself in the interview it's time for new ideas and new energy.

Also I don't think this means Marina just dumps wholesale Tigers without any links - she could always be a potential asset to us out there in the business and media world.

Others have made comments about ARLC and Greenturd maneuvering for this to happen - I seriously doubt it. It's not as if Marina just arrived; she's fairly seasoned in the role now and she was an NRL appointment originally anyway.

For sure Marina will be relieved to be rid of many of the stresses inherent to rugby league but that's just real life for business leaders.

Geez you guys like conspiracy theories. Marina has said she was there for a maximum of 2x 2 years. She's been here 4.5.

She would have walked away now regardless of anything that's happened.

Well my 20 years of senior management, working with boards etc on a daily basis must all be in my imagination. Next time I need to put together a presentation on governance (which is part of my job) I’ll be sure to give you a call first.

Weststigers Board new changes.

Wondering why the other independent director quit as well

Both quit same day …..

I wonder if there is something behind this we don't know about

Maybe the board didn't know what was happening with Farah ...

Said it happened on the 24th of December, which was a few days after Greenberg's announcement. They definitely would have known about the investigation, so it's interesting the timing came immediately after the decision.
