Thanks Tigerlily, a good read. Brent Read is one of the better journis IMO. it's funny that he was labeled an NRL stooge on this forum a few weeks ago.

Penrith’s top brass **outsmarted** ours and it left us in a precarious spot.

That remains to be seen. Appointing a coach for five years, three years after you sacked him, could turn out to be a very dumb decision.

In any event, there are a lot of observers think the Tigers got the best end of the deal.

I do agree that we've come out the other end with a much better coach - but more by luck.

Gus is running things at Penrith. Ivan is really only a highly paid waterboy.

Thanks for the heads-up Tigerlily. Losing Marina Go is certainly a blow and the fact that she was frozen out of the conversation by the NRL and members of our Board is a disgrace.

Right so everything bad that happened is her fault regardless of whether it was beyond her control and anything positive that has happened is by luck. Seems a fair way to judge someone.

I'm judging her on her remit as a chair and how closely she met her strategic plan goals.

She didn't meet most of them and her time on the board is up.

It's no great loss.

Let’s be blunt. She completely failed.

Walking was her only option.

* Salary cap breach
* CEO deregistered
* Coach walks out
* Major turmoil and drama over Robbie Farah sacked, then Jason Taylor sacked then Farah being brought back
* Losing one of our best local juniors (Tedesco) who has gone on to win a premiership, play origin and play for the kangaroos
* Centre of Excellence still not much closer

I don't know if that is all on her but we still have a long way to go as a club. The playing roster hasnt improved under Go and Pascoe either.

Ok, so Jason Taylor basically could be attached to pretty much all of this. The breach, the CEO, turmoil, tedesco

She did the right thing as a chair and have unwavering support for the coach to build his own roster. Did she pick the right bloke at the time? I can't remember any better candidates on offer at that point that would have come to us with our horrendous cap situation.

As for the CEO, We secured $30 mil for COE funding as we had no cash ourselves. We've got the plans in place and the unding agreements signed. I'm pretty sure that is the biggest publicly funded contribution for any club. You don't want to give any credit for that? That's magician work right there.

… and as for Cleary leaving. Come on. No one saw that coming and we wouldn't have let him go if we didn't get a better coach.

So really we get back to 1 single call - Taylor. Then the question is, who could we have got better at the time?

Wow. That really sheds some light on some of the issues.

I'm starting to get very scared that we're going to going to slip back into the poor administration of a leagues club controlled board. The days of people acting behind team members backs should have been long gone, particularly the chair!

This makes me angry. Grow up for god sake. Those board members should be stood down.

Funnily enough if that report is true she was the only one with guts, courage, and possibly the intelligence to challenge and expose the hierarchy for the incompetents that most of us believe they are, while the rest of the board decided to bend over. Disgraceful action by our board and, Dave Smith, looking like a genius compared to this lot of neanderthals.

Not talking about representation. I'm talking about going behind the chairs back. That's horrendous management that will only get us in trouble.

Yeah, that’s pretty ordinary behaviour and does not bode well for the front office.

Agree that it's not ideal but she handed her notice in back in December.

It shouldn't be a huge surprise that the NRL went to board members rather than the outgoing chair..

Agree the actions of the 2 unnamed board members are unconsciable and Greenbergs undermining of the CEO deserves censorship by the ARLC. They should demand to know why this was done. I bet it was to give Go no time to get legal advice on her preferred option of taking this to court. It stinks, the whole damn thing, especially the connivance of some of our own board. Again WT manage to shoot themselves in the foot.

Thank you Ms Go for your efforts over time. You have helped us immensely in getting back in the black with a solid back room behind the sports club. Up until now I suppose…... back to the back biting I suppose.

We have been a leagues club controlled board since Wests acquired 75%.

The independent board members was a stipulation put in place by the NRL. This was continued but reduced to 2 independents when Wests took control. Both independents have now resigned. I'm not sure that maintaining independent directors on the board is part of WTs corporate governance. Maybe someone in the know could shed some light on this.

It is no longer a requirement that ceased when Wests Ashfield took ownership of Balmain's debt and the board was restructured in 2016 ..Ms Go was re-appointed to the Chair in that year ..but they are looking for 2 more Independents..whether one of those will take the chair role remains to be seen..
