MARSHALL AND BLAIR TO PLAY IN ALL STARS MATCH

sharks fullback- Nathan Gardner.
would be nice to see younger players get a go.
I agree with Ink, for next year game, make it mandatory that only players who have played less that 100 games can only be considered.
or that only one player from each team can picked.
then all teams are represented.

I get where you are coming from Ink, but I feel this is a very important game for the Indigenous Players and I would assume they wouldn't want to soften the outlook of the game just yet with such a short history.

At least Blair is a benchy…only on for roughly half the game....wouldve prefferred to see him for the first time this year in our colours

I dont see the point in old blokes like Bailey, Hindmarsh playing this....should be for young non rep players with <100 NRL games under their belts...guys like Yow yeh, Ayshford, Peats, long hair titans bloke, The sharks fullback whos name escapes me etc etc

Agree Ink. Would have preferred to see a couple of up and comers get a go ahead of the veterans in this match. Pretty strong team though. Just hope Benji and Blair come through unscathed.

Nothing against Adam Blair, I welcome him to the club n all, but I wonder if he only got that many votes to spite to Tigers? From what I hear we're not exactly a popular club amongst fans of other teams. Maybe it was a coup to select the player that is the least of a tiger?

I mean Blair's good enough on his own merits, but how did he get in over Ellis and Big Keith?

in my opinion blair isnt even a tiger yet… what has he trained for two or three wks??? i can just see him getting a serious injury in this game and the tigers being the laughing stock of every rival supporter. Hope im wrong.
But looking at the pack, i see why he is picked.

Honestly, no disrespect meant to anyone who is indiginous, but this realy is a nothing game. To me it doesn't realy matter who is selected just as long as they come through the game unscathed

The fact of the matter is that it isn't to the Indigenous team. Call it promotion of racism or whatever you like, this game is of significance to the Indigenous side, so the All-Stars should field the best side out of respect if nothing else.

To be honest the fact that the idea of the game is based on racial segregation is kind of uncomfortable. I don't think players should be recognised for what race they are, they should be recognised for being good players, whatever their colour. And also I'm tired of this idea that every single indigenous player is sposed to be an 'ambassador' for his community. What an unfair thing to expect of a player just because of the colour of his skin. Does Billy Slater have to act as though everything he does reflects upon the white, anglo community? Just let people be people is all I'm saying. Stop making race an issue and racism will go away

Its not so much an Us vs Them thing, but an opportunity for Indigenous players to represent their people. I hope that didnt sound wrong, but what I mean is their heritage is obviously important to them and they want a chance to play for that heritage. It was Preston Campbells idea after all.

X3 I was thinking exactly the same thing. Hindmarsh, Bailey and Tate, to a lesser extent, are on the verge of retirement, so why their fans keep on voting them in, instead of giving someone else a go, I don't know.

On Blair, good luck to him and I hope he goes well, but I must admit, I was hoping that someone, who has actually played for us, was chosen instead.

I don't get this mindset, who cares? He's as much a Tiger now as any of our other players!!

Yeah.. but is he really?

I think it would be better if their nominated teams were based on who they played for in the last season. Until I see Blair on the field wearing a Tigers' jersey, I wont really feel he's one of us. Like I said, I welcome him to our club, but until round one he's still a melbourne player.

but maybe i'm just an old fuddy duddy

I think u r an old 'fuddy duddy'!
I feel definitely Blair is one of our boys, I feel the same way about him as I do for gareth, he is a tiger, to suffer he should be a representative of the '11 team is ridiculous, he's moved on, he is a tiger from '12, he would hate to think he is representing the storm in this game wen he is a tiger.. By that logic we should expect des handler to go coach manly in WCC and any player who left them, Blair is a tiger and I couldn't be happier!!

Also, I think it's embarrassing that we have two all stars teams in this game and it's not a sell out yet! That's poor!
Surely they can promote this better!

And some ppl saying this game should be for young players with less than 100games, that means no Marshall, Cronk, smith, thurston etc, the 'all stars' teams would be imposters haha!
The game would never sell out!

I agree; it wouldn't be an all-star game with just players with less than 100 games under their belts.

But a game preceding the all-stars game with just players with less than 100 games could be a good curtain raiser?

Am I the only one who has absolutely zero interest in this game? It's been so long since I saw any league that I ought to be desperate to watch virtually anything but I'm afraid I just cannot begin to raise any degree of excitement about two teams in which I have no emotional investment running about at 70% max.

Actually I have my suspicions that the whole concept will be a short-lived one. All-star games in the US have all more or less descended to joke level with the NFL Pro Bowl being a particularly pertinent example: in a violent contact sport no-one wants to get injured in an exhibition so the whole thing is a rather tedious display of non-tackling which nobody gets remotely excited about.

Personally I can't see much different down the line for the NRL one unless both players and fans start to have some genuine interest in the result, a la State of Origin. And I'm not sure that a genuine rivalry between the two sides as currently construed is something the game would want to encourage, shall we say.

EDIT: Sorry to be so cynical, and I don't mean to ruin anyone else's fun. By all means enjoy the game if it works for you!

Scott curtain raiser of less than 100 games players could be a beauty double header, but as 2041 says, as it's a pre season game players are not interested in getting interested in getting injured
