The sooner we get rid of both Balmain and Wests from State Cup the better. We should have Wests Tigers in State Cup.

Do u think any kids born in the last 10 years give a stuff about Wests or Balmain? They care about Wests Tigers. Sure, it would be sad to see the end of them, but in reality, its all about survival these days. Can u imagine not having an NRL side to support? Is having Balmain and Wests in State Cup going to float your boat? Who's going to support them when our generation passes? Maybe the odd guy who like to reminisce about his old man taking him to the footy as a kid, but thats it.

Im sick of all this Balmain fossils and Wests fossils talk, its about time these maggots stopped living in the past and started thinking about whats best for our future. Its been 10 bloody years for gods sake, and this stuff is still going on. We need to be one entire entity right through the grades.

Everything should be aimed at our survival and success, and that has to include being one whole entity. Lets think what the next generation wants, start planning ahead, instead of hanging onto to past memories that wont mean a thing to our kids when we die.

STAND UP King Sirro, you have just nailed it .Thats exactly what should happen.and lets get the 3 grades back to playing at the same ground on the same day, starting with under 20's ,state cup ,than first grade. i have just knighted you as SIR KING SIRRO..

Think i might send my post off to 2sm under a females name, they always read it if they think its a female listener.

Sirro - best comment ever! You are spot on!

The mind boggles thinking that most of the conflict in the club is coming from just a handful of members who can't let go of the past. Even after the club has won a premiership as a merged entity! you would have thought that would have brought them together… but no. Honestly, they are acting like a bunch of kids.

Unfortunatly, I think we will be in for more pain until these generations evenually work their way through and we can get some fresh faces in. There is no way that you get something past, or change the mind of, a bunch of stubborn old guys.

I agree hammertime

What Merge, Who cares anymore about the old Wests and Balmain….

The only thing good about tthe two old clubs is dul income stream. Having said that, this is all back office stuff that should remain in house.

Tim Sheens is the most suited coach for the Tigers. Bar none.

I am sick of coach Sheens bashers.

Now for some Fact.

- Tim is a 4 time premiership winner. Very few in the modern age have done this.
- WT are not the richest club and are still punching above their weight in terms of resources Vs results
- We are a club that relies on organic growth of players. We do not poach like Roosters, Souths or Melb etc. This is were we have excelled in past years. Tim has instituted a pathway for the juniors to make their way through.
- Lastly (for Now) I have seen the tigers and magpies when they were crud teams. They couldnt get a decent players or a reputable coach (remember Terry the %$^%$ Lamb).

Tim Sheens and his time @ WT has given us 2005 and the club we are all so excited about in 2010.

The Superstars of our club Benji, Robbie, Chris L, Ellis, Highno, Payten are all unanimous in Praise for the Man

Stick up for your own… There isnt anyone better out there.

One semis appearance in the last twelve seasons. Fact. **1 and 12**

One would think that having State Cup sides would mean there is a larger pool of players to call on for first grade.

However results to date indicate that this is not the case. As both Wests and Balmain have to finance two teams it means that the funds have to be distributed accross twice as many players. I believe the result is that you get a lower quality of players coming through as you aren't paying them as much.

Just look at the quality of the Bulls (Dogs) team that hammered us in GF. If our Balmain team was also comprised of the quality players from Wests, just imagine how good the team could have been then!

Our State Cup teams MUST come together to strengthen first grade.

Thats the problem I identified when the JV first started. You may have a bigger pool to choose but it simply means that you have to carry more players who will never play first grade.

Fossils? Maggots? Great work you moron.

Ever heard of the word TRADITION?

Obviously not. One semi final appearance in 10 years is hardly anything to write home about. Someone mentioned the great players we have or rather Tim Sheens has produced. A handful only. Go back into the history of both Balmain and Wests and you will find dozens of names that were great footballers and household names no matter what team you followed.

I am not saying that the two clubs should not combine but your rudeness and arrogance is breathtaking.

Wise up.

I think its wise u read a thread before attacking someone.

I used the word fossils because its been used repeatedly in this thread when referring to certain administration that has leaked information due to hostilities between the Magpies and Balmain.

My reference to "maggots" was for the same administration guys who care more about the past then the future.

Not once did i mention anything about past players, its all about the management. But dont let that stop u twisting it to try and make me look bad.

Next time u call me a Moron, make sure u have your facts straight with a good argument to back it up, because as you''ll see, your the first to not only disagree, but completely miss the point. …...........pfft

Stay on topic please. The amount of insults being hurled back and forth between members is unacceptable and it's going to result in people being banned or put on mod preview if it continues.

So if our NSW Cup teams were to merge then would that mean Wests Ashfield and Balmain Leagues have to fund the team, or would the Wests Tigers? I don't think we want the Wests Tigers to fund it as they can't even survive without playing home games away from our real home grounds. I don't want them spending extra funds on something they don't need to. I want them to find a way to play all home games in Leumeah and Leichhardt. Basically Wests Ashfield would have to fund a merged NSW Cup side 100% because Balmain Leagues can't even fund the Balmain NSW Cup team now and they wont be able to for years. Ryde Eastwood are funding the Balmain side now. Why would Wests Ashfield choose to fund a Wests Tigers NSW Cup team when they could fund a Western Suburbs Magpies team in the NSW Cup? Get real.

Another thing is merging the 2 NSW Cup teams really wouldn't make the first grade team stronger anyway. We have twice the players to choose from now. If we merged the two teams we might actually lose some players that could actually play firstgrade. One thing we shouldn't do is stack one of the teams with all the fringe firstgraders. We did that once with Balmain and they didn't win the comp that year. Also that year there were some potential firstgraders in the Magpies team and their game wouldn't have had any help playing in a side that was at the bottom of the NSW Cup ladder. The 2 teams have basically been balanced in the last 2 years and both teams have gone quite well. It is better to have 2 feeder teams that make the NSW Cup finals instead of 1.

We have already lost alot of tradition in the game. Sadly we will never see Western Suburbs or Balmain in first grade again but that doesn't mean we need to lose them completely. This old fossil (29 years old for the record) enjoys watching his mighty Magpies down in Leumeah every other week in the NSW Cup, especially when it's against Balmain =)
