Marshall to fullback in 2012?

Why not give tuqiri a go at full back!! Isn't that what we originally bought him for? Utai on 1 wing, brown on the other, Lawrence and ayshford centers. (Obviously when we don't have injuries)!!

MTD u highlighted my comment about Sheens thinking about bringing Sironen in next year as rubbish, why is this rubbish? From all reports he does have a high opinion of him and he see's him as a 5/8.

apologies, i misinterpreted it. i thought you were being a smart ass and referring to the king Paul Sironen. i knew there was a young sirro playing but this is the first i've heard his name thrown up for first grade selection. whats the report on him?

if we do shift benji to another position, i dont see how we could go past the halves combination of moltzen and lui given their experience in first grade now.

Just heard on Nine News in sport report that sheens is toying with the option of making marshall a fulltime fullback.

DISCUSS!

Yeah, thinking about 2012 already….doesnt augur well for this year if so.

I have always thought Marshall would make a great full back and can inject himself into a game.

Concerns I have is will he put his body on the line bring the ball back.

His defence has improved over the years.

Any one but Moltzen at full back.

This would mean Lui to 5/8 and Moltzen to half back.

I remember Bob Fulton once said a few years ago Benji would make a great fullback, he would have all that space to step and run, but he wouldnt be able to get involved as much with the ball is the problem

Yes, and Bob Fulton's grasp on the game is impeccable, what with his team selections for the Blues over the last five years giving Queensland a good shake and all… :unamused:

He's a knucklehead and a dinosaur. He has no place in the modern game.

This is the chance to bring in Jake Mullaney or Mitch Brown (who is good under the high ball) to replace Wade Mckinnon when he leaves for Hulll at the end of this year. Benji is not a fullback and the team will struggle.

Yeah good question. Tuqiri is suspect under the high ball as well but he possess most other attributes to suceed there. Worth a shot for mine. Brown to wing.

1\. Moltzen/someone else
2\. Tiquiri
5\. Brown
6\. Marshall
7\. Lui/Moltzen

Fullback is not just about catching high balls and returning kicks. You need to be able to read the play and follow your forwards/first receiver and chime into the backline. This is the strongest part of both McKinnon's and Moltzen's game. Tiquiri and Brown can't do this role and it would be a waste having Benji do it.

I think Marshall would be a great fullback. Then again I believe that he could play anywhere and be great, he is just so good.

What I do know however is that we do need a fullback in a hurry. If not Marshall, then Mullaney should get his chance.

Never, but never, should Moltzen be our fullback. He is sus in every aspect of role of fullback ie. High balls, defence, commitment and positional play.

If he ever gets his confidence back, and he won't get it playing first grade at the moment, he can play 5/8 or possibly half back. However as we have a couple of up and comers in the forms of Lui and possibly the best half back prospect I have seen in years, Miller, then Moltzen misses out at the WT's.

What I would't mind seeing is :- Mullaney, Lote, Lawrence, Marshall, Sirinon, Miller and someone with pace and size on the other wing (our young Fijian friend from the NYC or Finau come to mind).

you are all on crack moltzen is the future as tigers fullback he reminds me of a young garry jack
