Matt McIlwrick - Commits till 2019..

Come 2019 assume either he or Liddle will be moved on.
He has been surprisingly good, but I hope that neither he or Liddle are on big contracts.
We should only need 1 hooker in the top 17 and the fact that both have been re-signed suggests that there are doubts about Liddle's ability to transition to a top line 1st grader.
McIllwrick is solid, but nothing special

Liddle is already superior for mine and expect to have three hookers in the top squad, else at least a competent utility that can fill the role of the third.

Like you stated, McIllwrick is solid, so happy to keep him at WT.

Good news, deserves it. With Liddle and McIlwrick in the squad, I expect we will need one more hooker in top 30? Wonder if Ballin will get another 12 months or we go with a current part timer like Jeremy Marshall King?

The only off contract player we should retain along with ET. Solid hooker should be the backup if Liddle lives up to his potential. Get rid of the rest Hunt, Grant, Kev, Idris, JLJ, Lovett, Edwards etc.

Good re-signing. Very good squad player who will keep Liddle honest over the next two years.

My only slightly negative comment on MM is that he seems slightly restricted in his ability to change direction. I have noticed that when he decides to shift sides of the ruck it is quite telegraphed. Don't know if Im reading too much into it.

Good news, and good depth for next year with Liddle looking more and more confident each week.

No issue with he and Liddle in the 17, The majority of teams run with 2 hookers these days. JT said something in the off season along the lines of the game is too fast these days to play 80 minutes in the middle. When you can count the number of middle forwards who do on one hand, that statement is probably not too far from the truth.

If you do play two hookers, McLLwrick provides a suitable style to complement Liddle. In a case of multiple injuries during a game they could even be on the field together for a short time. or if it's just a signing for a back up hooker, Matt McLLwrick deserves the extension.

I see him as Liddle's backup. He'd be a cheap, somewhat experienced player who's played reasonably well so far for someone who was signed as a 3rd choice. Form has dipped of late as Liddle's has picked up. I'm sure he's happy to have some stability in his career for the first time.
