hey im from england and support a team in the competition below super league the comp is called the championship and i support whitehaven, we signed sam obst in 2004 and ive heard we are signing Matt Parata and Liam Roach from you, can anybody enlighten me to if these rumours are true? and what are these guys like? will they make an impact for us?

cheers in advance

parata has been at the club for a few years now and hasnt kicked on. is a strong center who can also play backrow. has always been too slow for mine. solid defender who wont let you down but is nothing special imo.

roach is steve 'blocker' roaches son who is a tigers legend. was a tigers junior who wasnt wanted by the club, went to the bulldogs then came back this year. didnt get alot of game time however the front row is probably the strongest position in our juniors so theres no shame in that. however being blockers son if he was any good i imagine the club would have held on to him.

i imagine the comp you are talking about is is probably a standard between our state cup and u/20s so they will probably good buys for you.

cheers mate weve had a few good imports from australia and new zealand, sam obst, ryan tandy, ,joel penny, marc leafa, steve trindall, jamie theoharous, leroy joe, aaron lester

and some bad ones mainly aaron summers

so im hoping these guys will be up to the standards of the likes of theoharous and obst, theoharous was outstanding last year, and ive been told he will come back if we sign his mate parata.

id imagine parata will play centre for us

Parata is talented but just needs something extra. Not sure what. His younger brother is better again and is progressing nicely through the Tigers junior reps system.

Liam is a odd one. I thought he had maybe one more year left in NYC but wasn't sure. Either way it is not a bad age to go off and see a little bit of the world while gettihng paid to do it

Liam has signed with London Skolars, the club that Jaime Nowland was playing for a couple of seasons back.
They are rebuilding and are the feeder club for Harlequins. They play in Championship 1\. Standard is Jim Beam Cup and low NSW Cup….alot of ex super league players are playing in the comp also.
Liam should do well over there.

London Skolars have finished bottom of championship 1 for the past 4-5 years and were knocked out the challenge cup by 1 of the local amatuer clubs in our area (whitehaven) they are called wath brow hornets.

still no news on Parata joining us, i had heard he would possibley be here for the middle or the end of janaury does anyone else have any news on him? or has he joined BRET for pre season training?
