Matt UTAI is our best winger, and Joel REDDY is . . . .

Glad to hear Utai has picked up where he left off last year.

What a great signing for the club, I would never have imagined that he would have had such an impact.

i thnk the big difference between utai and our other wingers is TICKER!! i have always been a fan of matty

Beau Ryan doesn't lack an inch in the ticker department. And as for Lote, well, theres not a lot you can do when your injured, although some people fail to to realize that

With Lawrence back this week, it will be good to see who Sheens runs out on that left wing… If as reported and Robbie and Chris is back this week, the team Sheens names WILL be the team for Round 1 (baring injury).

I think we lose more through Utais deficiencies than what we gain through his big runs. Some of the mistakes he made at the back end of last year were elementary. Both games at the end of the season against the dragons were evidence enough to me that he's out of his depth defensively. If there's not a better option on the wing than utai we are in trouble.

beau oozes passion but matt has no fear! i guess i meant he has more mongrel in him , i still see an amount of caution used when beau or lote run the ball at the line.

I wouldn't mind seeing Joel Reddy on the right wing outside of Ayshford, they're two big, strong, rangy, hard to tackle, defensively sound players and could strike up a strong combination. And anybody looks good outside of Lawrence, I like Beau and he looked very good on the couple of occasions he played on the left flank outside Rowdy.

Geez we've got some options this year. Sheensy said Brown will be out of rehab and play against the Roosters next week.. then there's the pocket rocket Utai, Lote still to come back, hopefully returning to his 2010 form, you've got John Grant who could very well be in with a chance of playing FG a bit further down the track if he continues to improve.. I rate Simona pretty highly.. then there's the new breed in Koroibete and Nofoaluma.

Look back 3, maybe 4 years ago, and outside the top 17, where weren't exactly abounding with options. Its a nice selection headache to have and a strong crop of players to step into the breach when injuries inevitably occur.

Yep, you read it.

I rate him higher than Tuqiri, and higher than Beau RYAN.

After a full pre-season of training, he was great last night. He was great last year in my opinion. He is definately our best winger. He is more suited to the left, but as we have seen has played well on the right aswell.

He is almost more destructive than Taniela. Parra had massive problems with UTAI last night and the bloke has no fear, he will run into anyone !! His timing hitting Benji's passing line is good considering Chris Lawrence plays on that side, UTAI was good enough to position himself well enough for Benji to hit him on the chest with long passes at speed. That is extreme talent for a winger to judge as the advancing defensive line has to be taken into account.

He is a ten year veteran and has Grand Final experience. Watching 5 opposition players trying to pull him down is incredible.

Joel REDDY must be in our top 17 somewhere. He is hard to pull down, maybe more so than AYSHFORD ??.
(But Blake is in the Fonz's _FAVOURITES_ club. REDDY, like UTAI needs multiple players to bring him down. His defence was brutal and spot on. I know it was only a trial, but his defence techniques were better than what I have seen from Chris LAWRENCE. He was fantastic under the high ball as well.

These two guys who people may have as secondary choices, are top line choices in my opinion.

Bug you may rate UTAI higher tha Tuquri and Ryan but he's much shorter than both..and that's one of his problems…he cant take the high ball and is woeful in reading the game in D...recall Gasnier had him for breakfast late last year...UTAI is a handy backup at best!.

I'll hold judgement until I see him play but in my opinion Utai will cost us more points than he makes in 2012.
Just kick to his corner high or low and he will leak points.
Then have a look at last years semi vs the dragons where for 80 mins gasnier made him look like a park footballer.
I love his returns but that's about it.
I like reddy in for lote and Utai on the bench but when lote is back Utai can be left out with reddy number 14.

I guess if utai does get selected on the wing he won't have to worry about gasnier this year !!! Seriously though I do like utais running game but defensive reads and pressure under the high ball makes me nervous

Yes Gasnier made him look bad, but dont forget he was playing centre that night. Big ask to play out of position and Mark Gasnier!

Utai is excellent at trucking the ball out of our own 20, and our best at that, Beau is very effective at this also, but he does it with those jinking dummy half runs and excellent play the balls.
However Utai defensively is a liability at times when his winger has space or with the bomb. His lack of pace limits our attack at times also.

I believe he is a good fill in, but Lote and Beau are my 2 picks at this stage, Id like to see Grant develop.

True, but he also gets turned inside out by other wingers as well.

I just can't see him being better than Lote, Beau or Reddy. Maybe even Grant.

I love utai, but I agree with most of the comments on here. He is also the option with the biggest liabilities.

Adding to the stuff already said, his handling is terrible. I'm not sure of his stats, but his unforced errors would have to be pretty high.

Is his height that much of a loability? You can either catch or you cannot. Grant has to be one of the tallest wingers in the game and he still dropped one last night leading to the last try.

I am now a major fan of Utai but do love his guts and tenacity but I think after last nights game he deserves his spot.

Utai is terrible under the high ball. We know it, every other team knows it, and that is his weakness. Its a major too! There is no doubting he is a good at other stuff, but to rate him the best winger is the club is overdoing it just a tad.

An emergency fill in or bench player, especially at his age is a fair call.

Utai was the surprise packet of last year.
A great player (and I've been watching him since he started in the Berala Bears) but to say at this point in his career he's our best winger?
Give yourself an uppercut!

I can't believe all the calls for Grant to walk straight into the team.

He will be lucky to see FG this year unless we have a massive injury crisis.
