Matt UTAI is our best winger, and Joel REDDY is . . . .

Utai had a great game, one of our best.I think there better options once the season gets under way.

Utai is terrible under the high ball. We know it, every other team knows it, and that is his weakness. Its a major too! There is no doubting he is a good at other stuff, but to rate him the best winger is the club is overdoing it just a tad.

An emergency fill in or bench player, especially at his age is a fair call.

Totaly agree, I think Utai"s days as as a winger are over, also has lost his speed, I think his future at the tigers will be on the bench, at least if he is, we will have our normal winger on the bench, but an added extra he can cover the forwards aswell

I can't believe all the calls for Grant to walk straight into the team.

He will be lucky to see FG this year unless we have a massive injury crisis.

Good players will expose Utai's weakness, like Gasnier last year. He will cost you more matches than he wins for you. Got a big ticker and goes hard but will always be in danger of costing you a game

What has he done to deserve being ahead of guys like Ryan, Utai, Brown and Reddy in the pecking order?

Grant had a great game in the lowers, looked a cut above imo….scored a great try after making a huge break and then backed up,beat his winger easily and scored.

I was impressed, this kid can play,i wouldnt be writing him off by a long shot.

Ps…..he is super, and by super i mean super duper fast.......he pretty much ran around his opposing winger in limited space.

This kid hits top speed asap, and he is BIG!

pretty good attributes to have as an NRL Winger!!!

I still feel Utai will start the year on the Left Wing as he offers a good foil for Rowdy. As for Grant, I'd presume he will be having a few weeks in BRET as the season proper gets underway. But if Lote is a long term prospect of being out, maybe Grant is the way forward?

When you have Benji and Moltzen both capable of throwing magic money balls, you need speed to put the icing on the cake. Okay Utai is well known for making dirty yards but we need a red bull on the wing s not a ute

Utai has the runs on the board, despite being knee high to a grasshopper and arguably the slowest winger in the comp, he does take some bringing down and always hits the line hard.

Grant does look comfortable in NSW Cup from the limited footage and reports on him so far. Hopefully he gets a good run this Saturday at Campbelltown. If he does adapt quickly and backs himself, he may be knocking on the door for selection in the second half of the season, but time will tell.

Were you at the trial at all GNR or HT?

I don't understand the hate towards Grant. He certainly looked good at the trial and has the best physical attributes for a winger out of every other winger at our club. People are very quick to dismiss him for some reason.

My personal opinion, he certainly isn't ahead of Ryan or Reddy. But he definitely isn't a bad option. He is well in contention based on what I saw.

No hate at all, and yes I was there.

I hope he succeeds but transition from union will take time, lots of it.

Just can't understand how anyone can call for him to walk straight into FG without even having seen him play.

This reminds me of the agents scene in Moneyball, when they are talking up the attributes of how a player looks/acts and how ugly his girlfriend is.

Grant has allot to do and he has only just begun.

Glad to have him on our side though.

Tedesco comes to mind 😱pen_mouth:

1 massive difference Sataris Tedesco has been playing the game all his life (though still young) ,Grant has come from a completely different code and as I have said previously his decision making needs to be instinctive before we can even think about starting him in an NRL game or teams will eat him alive . A good play maker would make Grant's life extremely uncomfortable
