Serious?

Yup. Too true serious. You guys should stop dreaming of Tuqiri in his golden days. He is old and slow.

Seen him at dummy half? Grabs the ball, goes backwards a couple metres in a u turn fashion and gets tackled - maybe 1 and half meter gains?

Defensively, he aint much better at the high ball or tackling.

So how did he manage 131 metres in attack from 14 hitups against the Panthers then?

Hey willow, I think it's spelt
"owned"

Don't get the love affair with Tuqiri, aside from the marketing side of it.

as for 131 metres/14 hitups.

he made 26m from kick returns and he made 6 runs from dummy half

what that tells me is that the majority of those metres are from him being on the end of backline movements.

also watching the games makes me thing Tuqiri "meh".

Surely he will come in for Lote…or are we still banking on Lote to come right? Its been over a year now we've been banking on him I think its time to give up on him.

What Sataris said.

Utai does 100+ metres every game.

You give stats on Tuqiri against Penrif? Well, Moltzen did 130m on 14 hitups! Cashmere did 85m playing less than a half of footy, and Junior Moors did 106m in 30 mins!

Your kidding aren't you
Lote brings experience & class to the side & ive also noticed no body seems to rate Bell to highly he had been one of the best defending forwards all season.

Now Tuquiri gets bagged for making most of his metres at the end of backline movements.
NEWSFLASH -he's a winger , not a front rower, he's supposed to!

Just give up on him? Give the bloke a break… He's spent the best part of that year injured mate...

I hope if you have pets or kids that for their sake that none of them ever get sick or injured!

No one is disputing whether he is injured or not. But you are arguing that because he is playing injured, its ok to be in 1st grade and play the way he does.

So should we stick in Tadesco in the game in a wheelchair and then say "Give him a break, he's got a broken leg, how else you think he should play?"

Good on you smartarse…

He has had a horror run of injuries over twelve months, and he's coming back into some form. He was good last weekend without being spectacular and you want to turf him for a defensive liability because he can make 100m a game. If our pigs are doing their job, we don't need a winger to make 100m+ a game. We're allowing the whole team to play themselves into form, why should Lote be singled out?

Well said CB, I think whilst Lote was not spectacular he was solid, and he will only get better with more game time. If he wants to hang around another year and the club can accommodate him I am all for it.
He is a charasmatic guy and clubs need people like him.

He's not been singled out. There are plenty posts about every other player who is not playing well. This post is about Matt Utai is it not? Your love affair with Lote is beyond me. He may be playing back into form, why can't someone playing better replace him until he is in better form? How many threads about Moltzen playing crap? Yet how many here defend him saying he is playing back into form from an injury?? :crazy :crazy

How is Utai coming back from a knee injury going to do a better job than Lote? As already mentioned, Lote ran for 130 odd metres last week from 14 hit ups, and that's without the defensive liability that Utai offers. He would have gone close to crossing the chalk in the first half too if Benji didn't spray a pass a metre and a half behind him.

It's got nothing to do with a love affair over Lote. I'm a huge fan of both guys, but I couldn't give Utai the nod over Lote at the moment. I'd rather a solid Lote over and underdone Utai on one leg.

that's why Willow's comments about his metres/hitup making him an effective winger needed correcting,

He's been "meh" for quite a while.

Does his job on the wing better than Utai, with the added advantage of being able to jump.

I'm glad to have Matt Utai's powerful little legs working for the tigers. He is a great replacement for the injured Lote or the useless Lote. Which ever Lote you are talking about Utai is the man to take his job, until then have him coming off the bench.

He shouldn't be used on the wing. He can be realy affective when used for 15 minutes a half in the forwards

There is no doubt his charges into the line(if he doesn't drop the ball) relieves a lot of pressure but I find myself biting my fingernails whenever the ball goes anywhere near him. At this stage I prefer Lote.

Agree with this. I wouldn't even care if he was used at second row to hit the fringes. He's not exactly blessed with blistering pace, but coming on fresh with 15-20 to go against tiring opposition he could be damaging out wide.

Just keep him off the wing!

To be fair an onion on a stick could do that job
