Matthew Bell

bell isn't going to make 10 tackle breaks, 3 line breaks, 14 offloads, and score 2 tries a game.

he is an old fashioned prop who will do his job very very nicely. 75m + every single game and 30 tackles off the bench. thats what he has signed to do, and thats what he will do.

he is the perfect player to show Groat, WOods, etc what it requires to play a season on Front Row

Nicely put Tigerdale

1 try in 5 seasons, he's is quite Gibbs like in that regard. Might stick a sneaky $10 on Bryce to score the first try against us in round 1.

if people are expecting Bell to come here and set the world alight with line breaks, offloads, and tackle busts, then they are going to see him as a dud signing.

if they are expecting him to do the job Sheens is, train hard, install good work ethic in the youngsters, and come off the bench making a stack of tackles and miss none, then you will all be pleasantly surprised

ps - Bell MIGHT NOT be the only Panther turning into a tiger next year.

and i guarantee the entire forum would be welcome to the player swap that we are trying to con the panthers into

Did this eventuate??

If it did they've kept it VERY quiet. I assume this was a reference to the rumour of Luke Lewis being swapped for Rhino or Liam Fulton.

Watched Bell closely last night and he played in two long stints at the end of each half.He was used as a decoy runner regularly and I saw three okay hitups from him.

His defence is a winner. On more than one occasion, i saw him reponsible for ,or involved in 3-4 consecutive tackles on the opposition.

At the end when Penrith were doing all their razzle dazzle crap,he was still running.

He may be used differently in attack by Sheens next year. But I reckon he will be a great signing, defensively at least.

This right here is exactly whet we need on the park when your starting forwards are having their spell or lat in the half.

The fact that he is so willing to run decoys, ( you got to make em look real) something that doesn't appear on the stats shows me that he is a solid hard worker.

Welcome aboard Matt.

no

we were very interested in one of their 2 fullbacks, but Penrith weren't letting either of them go

not a surprise that we were interested in Coote and Flash, also not surprised they were unwilling to release him.
