Matthew Lodge

Lodge is a hard nosed prop hits hard and is difficult to bring down. Lacks some leg speed/drive and if he gets a yard or two of pace up look out.

matt_lodgeSouths started loosing when you went there ….. @nathanbrown1

I can't tell if they're mates or really hate each other.

The difference between Lodge and Brown was absolutely stark.

Our old version of talent vs our new version of talent

Lodge was good and looked great because of a few hits on Brown. He wasn't man crush worthy

There is as much hype on Lodge as there is on Siro and Moses. Both have to consistently show the next level of performances to match the hype.

Don't take this as wrong. I'm backing that they will, but I don't believe any have YET justified the hype.

I've been a bit under whelmed in lodge in first grade. I think the guy has the potential to be the best prop in the game, but he hasn't shown his 20s form up a level yet. Hard to blame him, it's a pretty massive step up for a guy who can still play the year in NYC.

2 years ago when I watched the NYC origin a 17 year old Lodge was the best forward on the field. I said 'if we could sign one guy from that game it would be the storm front rower.'

He's a lot more woods then groat. Friday night showed he is getting towards where we want him.

I'd take a guess and say they were mates.
Points to Lodge this time but Brown didn't take a backward step.
Both good young forwards with a bit of aggro.
Wish we had kept Brown as well.

Stoked to see we have a forward that regularly offloads . Great change from the usual one ups.
Looks like the kind of fella that will have to watch his weight though….best of luck to him

i'd prefer that they hate each other, it makes for a better viewing

Maybe Lodge lifts his game more when he is personally competitive with the opposition. We just need to hope the other teams run out his nemeses each week, to fire the bloke up.
