Mavrik Geyer

How many on here watched the game on Fox , Cronk is a f**** moron , the dogs could do anything wrong according to him get they struggled to beat a NSW cup side , and again the ref made sure the dogs got plenty of the ball
i flicked in an out . Did he pull his weight, young Maverick

Like all his other NRL games, he’s a decent player, but doesn’t have any real x-factor about him.
The Bulldogs, Raiders and most of the teams in the top 8 focus a lot of their attack towards their edge back rowers and have at least one them who has explosive speed and is a genuine tackle bust, line breaking, try scoring threat when the ball comes their way.
Sanuela has shown he can be this type of player for us and obviously we are hoping KPP will offer similar strike on our right edge.
I am a bit concerned that neither have what you would really call explosive speed, but hoping their all round ability will more than make up for it.

im sure it will, in a few years our edge will rocket

I don’t exactly know why but I really struggled to tell apart the panthers players probably because I’d never seen any of them before.

Anyway, didn’t notice Geyer too much throughout and looked at the stats afterwards just to see what did happen. He got the most metres out of all panthers forwards with 13 runs for 95m (7.3m per run) and made the second most tackles with 37 but 3 missed and 3 ineffective (86% efficiency).

My conclusion is that he’s another Tony Sukkar type player. Will do the work and be reliable and consistent but lacks any sort of real x-factor. I think it’s quite likely Mav will be 4th or 5th string 2nd row equal with Sukkar and will probably spend 95-100% of the season in NSW Cup, but will certainly be a handy back up if there are injuries.

Panthers were dominated by the dogs defence, they had no momentum, as dogs were swarming the forwards with 3 - 4 defenders in a tackle and pushing them back. Geyer and the others then focussed on trying to get offloads away so were going into contact trying to stay upright with hands free, sacrificing metres to try and take advantage of second phase play. He was solid on both sides of the ball, not a game breaker. Although hard to judge in that game as none of the Panthers forwards stood out as better or worse.

Panthers reserve pack got monstered, as expected. Hard to gauge really
Exactly and as much as we don't like it the dogs are a top 4 side their defense didn't give Mavrik much room to move, he can't carry the whole inferior pack on his back.

Anyhow we don't care what he does at the riff it's what he does when he gets to the Tigers.
For a start he has a good size frame that the weights room can work on over the summer, if he can get stronger, we could have a decent signing.

Samuela is a weapon. Seen his arm free so often with no one to pass it to.
