Mayer on MMM

Mccarry

Well-known member
Mayer was on MMM at 2.05 or so today

Sorry I don't have the link, perhaps someone would add it.

Firstly - he was excellent. Represented us very well. He answered the questions well. He was very clear about Potter. He is staying. He said that Potters communication needed to improve.
He said that the off season would allow Potters relationship with the players to improve.

Reiterated that the board is looking at changes - dodged putting them (his bosses) in it whilst making it clear that change was important

Said that the club has sponsors interested in next year. Overall on the financial side he said that things were heading in the right direction.

Without him we would be struggling right now far worse than we are. Well done Mayer

If Potter stays I think membership will be up next year.

Thanks Ink

Encouraging interview. Gone was the carefully worded comments, replaced with statements about supporting Mick. Nothing concrete though so doubt will remain but at least it was positive signs.

Thanks Ink…

I like this Mayer, even questions he wants to pass on, he doesnt stonewall, he takes the time to explain some of the intricacies of the issue, so as to put to rest fears as to why he cannot speak up at the specific moment. He is an all around brilliant communicator.

Good interviiew, but he does say 'two great assistant coaches in Royce and Georgie informed us they were moving on' or words to that effect.

That is a very, very, strong 'spin' on hownto say two blokes were sacked.

Yeh, hes very very good. Much better than Humpreys…

Yup. Fingers crossed he gets the chance to do what needs to be done instead of getting sawn off by the muppets on the board and replaced with another yes man like the last idiot.

Good interview, lets hope sanity prevails, MP deserves to stay for the duration, this year we had too many dramas/injuries/players payments issues to judge his performance.
IMHO, there are a lot of positives (e.g. Blair, BMM, Simona, Nofoaluma, Tedesco, Seumanufagai, Sue, Buchanan) and a few negatives (e.g. interchanges, out of form players selected just on reputation: Ayshford, Lawrence, Anasta, Marshall).

Go Tigers

Was a better interview than the one he did this morning, sort of answered more questions but there was much that he couldn't answer properly.
He did sound quite peeved by the Benji blues thing and rightly so, I get a feeling that we may be playing reduced games at liechhardt and Campbeltown for commercial reasons.
All in all he is quite the good talker reassuring but lets see what plays out talk is cheap.

mayer is the best thing that has come to the club for a long time . he straight to the point answers the question i hope we can keep him.

Thanks ink.

What a character, mayer! Great representation from us, answered the hard questions. And feeling very happy about our direction going into 2014\. If potter stays on, fixes up those communication skills (wonder what they are….) then i can not wait to grab myself a membership next year to help the club out!

Humpty increased the games at CSS and LO to appease the fans….a popularity decision rather than a decision that was best for the club.

I think you may be right

Mayers comment that the leaks have 20% of the info is interesting. Makes me wonder if the talk about Jason Taylor and Trent Barrett is based on assistant roles and not head coach role.

Before everyone says what would be in it for them, the upside could easily be the head coach role for 2015.

I can't see a new head coach at Penrith or Roosters for some years.

It was just the way he answered the question about the split, they asked about 4 and 4 and he said yes tentatively and then went on to say depends on the draw so it made me think it may be reduced, to say 3 and 3 but if it means we stay more viable then so be it,he did say we were struggling a bit financially.

Love to have JT in the ranks, he is behind the success behind the roosters besides them being over the cap!!!! but Potter must get a fair go to prove himself. If we are in the same position as this year and haven't improved then things may be looked at. It will still take at least 2 more years before the top 8 in my opinion.
Players also need to be accountable cant keep passing the buck!
