Mayor to bare teeth if Tigers move away

We average more people at Homebush/SFS than LO. I think its a minority that makes a lot of noise that loves LO to be honest.

**It's also unusual for the Tigers to play a popular Sydney based team at Leichardt, they choose to play the games with the smallest expected turnout in their smallest capacity grounds**. Play the Cowboys or the Storm at Leichardt, take the Bulldogs game to a bigger ground. That doesn't necessarily reflect a fan preference for Homebush or Moore Park.

Perhaps I am in the minority of people who'd rather stand on the grass than sit in a public school issue plastic chair, but I don't think anyone enjoys being in a stadium at 15% capacity. It's just an embarrassment. The boys must run out and feel like no one could be bothered. The site of whole bays of empty blue chairs is a poor image for the game.

In a theatre or more multipurpose arena like Allphones, the crew will just drape off or remove unsold seating, reducing the size of the space for the size of the event. ANZ stadium might be alright if we could somehow hide all the unsold seats, like hang advertising banners over the top bays, rip seats out etc. Anything to make it feel less sterile.

They dont choose
Allianz selects the best drawing games (in return for the $$$$ they pay us to play there), LO & CSS get the remains

LOL…thats why the board remains and Humptys gone, thank christ.
Think with your brain for once, not your heart.

You must be one of a rare few who is pleased the board remain.
Maybe you should think full stop.

I didnt say anything about being pleased about the board remaining….merely highliting who the buck stops with

The CEO of the club is accountable to the board.
The Board makes all the strategic decisions and sets out the clubs plans and goals for the CEO to carry out as part of his charter. That's why the Board meets every month and the CEO is present at those board meetings. To say the buck stops with the CEO on such things as ticket prices is misguided and shows a lack of understanding as to the workings of a Board of Directors.

Its a figure of speech…. :unamused:

But I think youre not quite right there....those blokes on the board are sure up there on all matters running an NRL club if theyre making all the decisions

I think they just vote yay or nay to items proposed to them by our various depts such as marketing, sponsorship, membership, ticketing merchandise etc etc

Correct me if Im wrong

WESTS TIGERS boss Stephen Humphreys believes matches at Leichhardt Oval are set to become member-only affairs as the club's round one match against Cronulla heads for a sell-out without tickets going on sale to the general public…...............

The buck stopped with him

Whinging about this a year on ffs

He was trying to push memberships which are a guaranteed income stream regardless of attendance.

Seems to me the stupidest decision was made by the NRL and 9 when they decided to schedule all 4 LO games this season on either Friday or Saturday night.

Sucked big time for me as I payed over $500 for season tickets for the girlfriend and I, then my hours at work changed to night shift. Was spewing.

Isn't that what sick leave was invented for TT

Haha unfortunately when you're the manager there's no such thing as a sick day.

The defence of LO in playing games there at night and against non Sydney teams is embarrassing.

If it was the great venue that some say it is you would pack it out no matter who was playing, when it was being played and whatever the weather was like. The old ' I love Leichhardt…... but only on sunny Sunday afternoons and when we play Souths or saints' is not a reason to continue playing there.

Fair point. In my opinion it's fair to say that we did get shafted in the scheduling this season. 2 other factors though contributed to lower crowds at Leichhardt this season. 1\. Poor weather, and 2\. poor team form. People can debate whatver they want but the facts are there for any sporting club in any sporting code. Poor weather and form does affect attendance.

As for the argument of Friday night games v Sunday arvo games? Yes, it IS a factor. For what ever reason, the facts don't lie. Wests Tigers are a better chance of pulling a crowd on a sunday arvo than at any other time. This is just how it is. I don't think it's so much to do with the time slot being more appealing for families than a night game, but i think it's more appealing to the clientele who live in the areas surrounding the game. I know a few fans who attend LO games and don't even support the tigers. People of the inner city love to get outdoors on the weekend as much as anyone and doing things locally is always an attraction. You contend with the bars, pubs and restuarants in the evenings as well. Locals see it as great option for spending a sunday afternoon. The time slot suits those who have to travel some distance. It also suits those who travel on public transport.

Every club wants a home game on a sunday arvo. Only 2 per week get those games though. You either moan about it and throw money out the window or move to a suitable ground. We choose to moan.

Right, so the Tigers have no say in which games are played at Leichardt or Campbelltown, and I'm unlikely to enjoy another Sunday afternoon match against the Bunnies at Leichardt Oval for the foreseeable future.

I was thinking that perhaps the NRL could distribute free family passes to schools to help promote the game. The kids would certainly make some noise and fill those empty bays. I think 10,000 school kids in the cheap seats at every ANZ game would go a way to making the stadium seem less of failure.

The Tigers choose the LO & CSS games and opponents, AFTER Allianz get their pick.

Register your kids for a junior league club, they
get free passes, become a coach/mgr/trainer…you'll get one too

Sick of night games. We should do better next year..we won't be on so many Friday nights.
Look out Saturday afternoon..here come the Tigers.

We shouldn't worry about all games going to ANZ or Allianz. The current model of 4-4-4 or at worst 3-3-6 is perfect for the big stadiums from their view, as they get out best drawing games, without having to cop the traveling Warriors or Cowboys. It makes us actually a more enticing prospect for them, so expect Leichhardt and Campbelltown to stick around.

In regard to the mayor, the bloke is a dead-set drop kick, and seems more worried about his own PR than the actual issue. If they had supported the club in developments at the Rozelle club and enhancing Leichhardt Oval, we may not be in this situation, but he and his council have let it get this far (despite the club supporting him for election to the council on a couple of occasions), and when he's had the chance to return the favor, he decided to come out swinging, and even accuse some of our WT directors from the Balmain side of corruption. If I was Mayer, I'd be telling this imbicile to buzz off!

Our board is too gutless and too stupid to make profiable decisions.

Profitable comes with Winning to - LO produced a 75 win ratio this year! I'm sure it is up around this mark all the time ?!? Win = Sell merchandise!! & members tics. Simple… Re the Mayor, he tweeted Grant Sunday morning after de fans introduced them in the twitter sphere. Mayor said the paper called h to ask him bout LO, & he answered their question.

Leichhardt oval is decrepit. If anyone truly believes we will be playing there in 10 years time your probably insane or infirm. Ovals need ongoing maintenance and without anybody paying the bills they won't work.

It's not my ideal location but ANZ will be our long term home. If everyone who claimed to be a fan of the club supported the club we'd be fine.
