Mbye announced as captain

Great appointment and can now see why Ivan appointed 5 last year as the rest just wern't individually up to it

I like the leadership group but all have reasons they can't be Captain
Farah - Last year and the controversey
Marshall - Not guarenteed a starting position
Packer - On field leader but reputation wise you cant have him as Captain alone
Lawrence - Like the other forwards doesent play 80 and in future might be off the bench - also 30 already so may not be long term
Brooks- Just coming and would be too much pressure
Taylor - Inspirational but has too much else to do on field to be a Captain and may not start

Oh and Tiger Steve no cared about your 1st comment about Mark Geyer and Radio but he is brilliant and has made a long career out of it so perhaps your just a bad judge

Mate I just don’t like the bloke and can’t listen to someone who can’t string a sentence together. Don’t know whether that makes me a good or bad judge - just my preference. I do respect how well he has done and turned his life around. But don’t think he’s cut out for radio.

Congrats to Moses. I think this is a great decision.

Amazing how quickly things change. If you wandered into a betting agency a year ago and asked about the odds of the Tigers starting the 2019 season with Michael Maguire as coach, Moses Mbye as Captain and Robbie Farah starting at number 9… I think you might have got one very large collect.

This is a huge surprise Mbye was very lazy at times last year. Ran with little vigour. He is a clean skin that presents well but the biggest question is whether the players respect him as a leader. Rowdy was the better choice.

It's logical to have an 80 minute player in charge. Mbye is cool under pressure and at fullback sees everything.
Brooks has got enough on his plate without the added pressure of captaincy and the other 80 minute players probably don't tick all the boxes.

Players wanted Mbye fwiw..

Like most, I didn't see this coming but it makes sense.

Its a continuation of the change sweeping through this club.

Well done coach.

Probably right. Maguire is a seasoned coach he knows better than me. Hopefully this gets him playing harder Mbye has all the skills.

You don’t want to give Brooks the captaincy, he has enough pressure on him as chief play maker. He finally lifted to the next level last year.

Agreed. It'll just give him a lot more to carry. Mbye was a good choice. I just figured out that Madge must like having fullbacks as the captain. Inglis (Souths), DWZ (NZ) & Mbye (Wests)

**New Wests Tigers captain Moses Mbye said he was somewhat surprised when new coach Michael Maguire gave him the top job — saying he felt honoured to lead the team forward in 2019.**

Having played just nine games for Wests Tigers since joining the club midway through the 2018 season, the 25-year-old Mbye said there was some initial reluctance to take on the new role given his young family and his new arrival to the club before a conversation with Maguire helped ease his concerns.

"I think it's a responsibility that I'm quite enjoying so far," Mbye said.

"It means more than just football — it means leading from the front.

"It's about building a culture and driving a culture that has trust around the whole organisation.

"I do have a pretty full plate with three kids at home so I did think twice about it," Mbye admitted. "I had some deep chats with Madge about it and we worked it out and this is the outcome.

"I was concerned with the commitments at home — my responsibilities as a father means my family comes first — and I didn't want to devote too much time than what was needed. But the way Madge is controlling things and the strength of the leadership group we have, the time thing wasn't going to be so consuming for me.

"I thought that, as far as leadership goes, I had the qualities of that," he added.

"Everywhere you go in life, it doesn't matter whether you've been there one day or ten years; you try to be yourself and lead from the front. If you have that quality of leadership then you express that and you try to be the best version of yourself.

"I'm truly honoured that the boys and coaching staff thought of me in that way.

"It's humbling and something I want to put my best foot forward in."

Still only 25 years of age, Mbye will be one of the youngest captains in the NRL this year — leading to questions about his ability to tell players like Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah, who he grew up idolising, what to do on the field.

"It's not so much about telling people what to do," he said.

"Everyone assumes that the captaincy is about barking orders but I'm not their schoolteacher and I'm not their father. We work as a collective leadership group and we're a really strong group — guys with over 200 games experience — and I think we're far more powerful as a group when we put our heads together."

Well maybe

Or Mbye will announce at the start of the 2020 season he is going to play for the Gold Coast because his wife wants to work for Qld Ambulance and the Titans will organize a free house

Glass half full …...Glass half empty

Why would you make the Bulldogs reserve grade Captain!

It's probably for contractual reasons. If you had to make anyone, go Corey Thompson, Nofo, Rowdy, anyone else.

Sadly this was probably done to keep Mbye. No, I mean NnnooooooooOOO. If he had a nice deal with the Titans, Parra or Melbourne reserve grade we could have been clear. This is not the player you want.

Damn Nemesis you have won this round.
