MBYE

Rocks and diamonds. One week he is rocks the next diamonds.

Friday night he upped the anti and gave us both.

I think Reynolds, Mbye, Packer are just some of Ivans signings that at the time I thought were good however, the fullness of time is showing that maybe they are not much chop.

Papenhuyzen said in an interview in todays paper, " After studying video, we targeted MBye tonight"

Lol @ the whingefest . Mbye will play origin in the next few years . You are all just looking for a scapegoat , like MWZ last year . Oh and Jordan Rankin in other years . Oh and Adam Blair in years before that . Oh and Daniel Fitzhenry . Ohh and John Morris . Blah blah . Here’s the deal . At that elite level . The bounce of a ball, a minor lapse , a decision to try To score with the ball inyour right instead of your left . Can be the difference between a win and a loss . and Melb are Notorious for forcing those lapses to be the difference .

@Strongee Not a whinge fest but more a discussion on player performance. Sure sometimes posts go over the top but sometimes the comments are accurate and warranted.

If you look at the last 10yrs our squad and results are beyond “the bounce of a ball” explanation.

You lost all integrity when you said Mbye will be in origin.

Don't know if ive seen diamonds. I have seen some decent performances (nothing amazing) and then a lot of rocks.

Prehaps mbye playing for maroons in origin, os just what he needs......

I am actually all for him playing, one because it will be a huge learning experience for him, and two it will give dylan smith a chance to come in, or even someone else from the isp to come and have a go at a wing spot while thomo goes to one of the many spots he excels at fullback

@WeHaveCheeKam the origin coach was talking him up lol What are you talking about ? Qld pick on character as much as skill . Which is why they win all the time . Love of the jersey . It’s why Cherry Evans couldn’t get a run during their golden generation . If Mbye scores that last try , you all would be “OMG Mbye is the greatest “ It’s ridiculous . He’s a solid first grader that is getting better after his knee op .

@TCL it’s a different team . And I do look . Remove the Parra game and we are there or there abouts in most games , with a 10 times better attack then last year . Even during the 09-12 run , when we weren’t on we got lapped . The bulldogs game was case in point . We played like 💩 and still could have won if a few of those “bounces” went our way . Which is what Maguire is saying and I agree . You hang in there until you get a bounce , or , you limit the hurt from those “bounces “ . This is what Melbourne , roosters and the top clubs do . In fact I don’t even see the broncos doing it without Bennett . No one has won there outside of him .

Then you must think very little of Mal Meninga because he said he’d have him no. 14

Mbye has all the skills it’s why people get frustrated he doesn’t dominate tackles, fly to the ball, return with vigour. His mindset and errors are the issue with his game. It’s his second year as a fullback and he was a half for the last decade through juniors and dogs. Issue is he is captain and a highly paid player he has to lead by example in effort areas.

Mal has seriously not been watching Tigers games this year.

Or he has and has a different opinion to you. I wouldn't pick him, but I suspect Mal has some idea what's going on.

@Strongee " He’s a solid first grader that is getting better after his knee op ."
Nope.
Look at Canterbury. His entire time there it was rocks and some diamonds.
Highly inconsistent player, who could not GEL in the halves. Trent Hodkinson can read plays, Mbye can't.

We should have never hired him. Now we need to develop him. This will end badly.

@crazycat ???? He’s playing fullback buddy . Hence why he was put there , as he’s an instinctive player . Hasler rated him , Pay rated him, Cleary rated him , Madge rated him , Meninga rated him , Walters rated him . Random fickle , immature Forum posters hate him . YEP He SUX. Watch Dufty play . He’s never in the right spot . Watch TMM and Hampton and Kahu and it’s the same . Boyd is soft . Edwards is full of errors . Dugan is a crap cause he gets injured and can’t pass . Valentine Homes couldn’t pass so was a crap fullback . DWZ same .Ponga does nothing all game , makes a break in garbage time and suddenly he’s the greatest. Do you see a pattern here ? Everyone has Pros and Cons Unless you’re Tedesco or RTS the fans aren’t happy . And they’re generational talents . It’s funny because when teddy was here you guys would spit the dummy and call him crap when he had an off game . It’s like watching 4 year olds have a tantrum because mum said no to ice cream .

@Strongee Sure a lot of fans hate on a lot of players.
But Mbye has had a long time to live up to the hype. No he wasn't living up to it in Canterbury last year.
Defense, at the back. while his positioning is not great.... his problem is not being able to stop the ball. 1 on 1 he will loose and has lost every time I have seen him on the line.
Attack wise I will give him wraps for being a team player and a soft hands passer. He isn't a solo hero like Tedesco. but he is nothing special and not a patch on Dufty or DWZ. (ok he is better then Edwards, but Edwards is learning and maturing. Mbye is a seasoned player.). when is this 750K player going to perform?

@Geo well you have wiped ice cream at Fullback.
