Mbye

We have had a senior player problem for numerous years. Mbye, Packer, Matulino, Reynolds, McQueen, Tamou, either injury, non performance or age have been an issue at the Tigers. Amongst some talented younger players the lack of drive always rubs off.

I don’t believe we will really see anything for a few years irrespective of who we sign. It’s come to a point the whole group has to be upgraded likely from within with younger players getting better.

I only see signings as short term to keep us respectable for a couple of years.

2021. The year that broke supporters and also certain WTF guidelines - disguised and undisguised swearing is now permitted on the WTF. Yay!!!
Have been tempted for years to start a poll to call a veto for the allowance of certain Bobby Baratheon quotes on here. Well done sir ?

I've defended Mbye on here but i'm totally done with him.

I said yesterday in the team thread, he should have been dropped, Madge is all bark and no bite, and we are reaping the rewards now

and I don't think an adequate solution for a replacement was found there, and probably won't in this thread either

Who is left to pick from? I would love to see Nofa gone, but we don’t have much depth in the backs and we are still in the hunt for a semi birth?

Semis are gone. Players are just happy their mortgages are being taken care of.

If we start with the premise that Mbye has been given 149 chances and failed then any combination would be an improvement.
Be it Douehi at 6 or Madden or Laurie or Cini in the centres or Pauga or Hoffman.
There is no Downside to replacing Mbye . You can't go lower than the bottom of the barrel.

Regrettably he's not bottom of the barrel with us.

To be clear, Im no way saying he doesn't deserve to be dropped, its just that the alternative create more problems for us across the park - for this game.

If it wasn't south's I'd drop Pauga in and AD to 5/8. but the kid would get destroyed with that backline, its just not the game to blood a kid.

I think you are fooling yourself if you think players hold each other accountable for anything - that's all directed at the coach.

Take over the payments? We would have been paying him around $800k a year to play for the Dragons, that is giving him away. I would love to play poker against you.

The Tigers would not have been paying $800,000, the NRL approves every contract & would not approve St George to pay less than minimum payments for a first grade player. The Tigers have already paid a large percentage of his contract as the league season is deemed to start on Nov 1

Sorry mate, but you need to think about how a contract would work?

If he was on $800k per season, we would pay an agreed amount (between us and the other party) and the other party would pay the balance to the value of $800k, between them and us, Mbye would not lose any money.

That said, I hope he stays now.

Exactly, what where I was coming from, a contract is a promise or an agreement where both parties receive something of similar value the Dragons would have to pay aamount the the NRL deemed was fair otherwise it would be a gift, which is non contractual

You seem to basing that on he fact we would just send him over there? Or are you thinking that our part of the payment would not count against the player in the Dragons salary cap? From my understanding, the Dragons cap would be the full amount, except they wouldn't be paying the full amount, and we would have his salary off our books, if that makes sense?

Effectively you are part paying for a player to play for another team..

The Club weighs up the cost of that with gaining a roster spot and amount needed to recruit another player to fill that spot..
