MCK

Realistically any opinion on this is just guessing. The original poster and the NRL Physio are both relying on expert knowledge however they don’t have intimate knowledge of MCK’s situation. I’m sure that he and the club will be guided by the doctors treating him as to what happens In the future. I wish him well and hope that there aren’t any long term effects on his health whether he plays again or not.

Speedy recovery. Wish him all the best. Recommend he take the rest of the year off and decide what’s important in life.

‘MY WIFE WANTS ME TO QUIT’: TIGER REVEALS CONCUSSION BATTLE
https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl
Tigers utility MCK has suffered two serious concussions in as many seasons and while his family has urged to him to retire, he’s eyeing off a milestone.

Horrific news, the lad might have no choice or be forced to medically retire at the age of 29

I'm with Mrs Chee-Kam..

Health is far more important than a game of footy..

It's a hard one, if I was talking about a family member I would want them to retire. If I was talking about myself I would probably want to keep playing.

When he was convulsing on the floor , my missus came in and said “oh god , that’s horrendous”.
For me , I’d be looking at life after footy . He is 29 , he’s not exactly a teenager . He’s only got a few years left here , at most anyway . It’s just not worth it .

He is going to be flat out getting a run with us. Definitely not worth getting bashed in Reggies. I have my doubts that other clubs will take much of a risk with a 30 journeyman with bad concussion history.

Im with Mrs CK

Which party has the head knocks...

He’s keen to reach 100 games which probably won’t happen this year given our increased depth. Hopefully he’s getting the right medical advice. Wish him the best luck for no more concussions.

Yep.

Watch the Will Smith movie 'Concussion'. It's sickening what has been happening to past NFL players.

The NRL needs to act fast to prevent that sort of thing becoming a big problem here.

It's a hard one if your family members are so concerned. Wonder what medical advice he has received on this so far?

Sounds like he's been pretty thorough with his medical checks and they say he can play on so he should be right. Doubt he sees any first grade anyway

So is it ok he plays on because he won't see first grade??? You need to rethink your priorities.

Might be a little bias here but I don't see how 100 games influences your decision at all. You're either safe to go on or you're not. Any personal or professional milestones shouldn't matter.

If a player gets to 50 odd top grade appearances they have already achieved more than most of their peers anyway, so time to go if one's health points in that direction.

His decision in the end, he wants to play on! Doctors have obviously given him the thumbs up

Yeah, but so does Cordner, as do punch drunk boxers.

That wasn't my point at all, was in regards to him wanting to make 100 games. Won't happen

This is a hard one, MCK does not strike me as egotistical, but he does come across as a hard worker and a never give up person.

If family is looked after then the hard descission may be the best descission.

I wonder if the Tigers are intending to resign him into 2022?
