Red Cadeaux - @ $41 with one of the worlds best jockeys, this is the best roughie for sure!

Dandino (winner)
Verema
Mount Athos
Hawkspur

Roughie = super cool

Super Cool's last 600 in the Cox was pretty impressive!

So what is it going to do for the other 1160 m boys ??

Not righting it off (done that to my peril in the past :brick: ) , but having a great finish after 1400 metres compared to having a great finish after 2600 metres is another thing

That's why it's a roughy Haps.
The distance is an unknown quantity for the majority of these horses.

I don't think Super Cool will get the distance Happy, but a lot of trainers are using the Cox Plate as a good 'blow-out' for their horses before the Melbourne Cup these days.

I think your on the money with Voleuse… It's run in the Irish St Ledger was super super impressive!

It was a good run Watto , but a lot of the field were top liners out of form

Definitely a different race these days , you could right 18 off and it was usually a race in 6

Now you might be able to right 6 off and 18 are in it up to their eyeballs

Won't be surprised to see 10 horses within 2-3 lengths at the finish

It may not be the best field we've ever had , but it looks on paper to be one of the evenest

How the Williams 6 run will probably dictate the race , if it is a slowly run race a lot of the overseas horses can just about be written off and then a lot of the short course specialist come into the equation

Is there anything there that you think will put some pace on? Like you say it can make a big difference

Fiorente

Tres Blue 😛ray:

I'm inclined to agree. Fiorente has been my pick since the Autumn. If he doesn't blow the start and is ridden properly he deserves to be favourite.

Tres Blue seems to have slipped under the radar but her French form is excellent. Last start she beat supposedly the best horse in training in the world. If Gai has completely stuffed her training up her correct odds should be far shorter than the $20+ I've seen in fixed odds betting.

It's a pretty open race though. I've got massive doubts on the Caulfield Cup winner getting 3200m and the Mackinnon was a poor quality race this year. I'm going to have to really study some of this form tonight.

Mourayan has led from the front and seeing it is the longest in the field it may try to go from woe to go

Apart from that none that I know of

Don't be surprised if one of Williams horses tries to lead out slowly , that will suit the majority of his horses and because the field is pretty even horses won't take a chance to ruin their own chances by trying to pick the tempo up mid race

Hawkspur for me in the Melbourne cup. My sister and bro outlaw decide to by a share in a horse for the first time and he's made the Melbourne cup.
Should he win, Pumpa will also bring up his 100th G1 winner.
Kicking myself now for not taking up an equal share offer.

Best longshot is Ethiopia, currently at 70 to1\. Has only won one race but it was the AJC Derby. Good run last Saturday and is finally starting to find its form.
