There was a video today posted elsewhere showing the Storm/Knights game the yr before showing McKinnon high fiving as Jesse Bromwich lay on the ground with a broken jaw.

What a pissweak comparison to be really honest. In that tackle McKinnon reels out of it after a head clash,a teammate comes up to him and sticks his hand out to be slapped, McKinnon immediately falls to the back of the pack to get his own head cut treated. A bit of a contrast to someone arguing a point after seeing a bloke get carried off on a stretcher in a neck brace after seeing and hearing his anguish from close range,he was in the immediate vicinity of the whole McKinnon scenario unfolding. Idiotic comparison would be saying it nicely. Unbelievable

Haha cos your thoughts on the matter are sooooooooooooooo objective.

Are you sure it was Bromwich , I'm pretty sure it was the same bloke that tackled Mckinnon( Maclean )!, that had the broken jaw .
The circumstances were a lot different, it was a head clash and McKinnon was only involved for a few seconds , before walking away.
Smith was prowling around the Ref for most of the time that McKinnon was being treated.
It was obvious that he was pretty serious, both from the fact that he was yelling that he could not move, and from the concern from the medical staff that were treating him

It could be seen from the video that this was more than trying for a penalty.
While any genuine injury is something that None of us would want to see. This type of injury is one which overrules anything else that is happening on the field,
Smith should have buggered off and let the ref sort out what would happen. There was no doubt that it was an illegal tackle, and it would be on report
As for Macleans injury, a comparison is ridiculous , while you hate to see that , his life wasn't in danger, and he didn't have the threat of being a paraplegic for possibly the rest of his life.

It was Jordan McLean. I stand corrected on that.

Smith has confirmed what a scummy human being he is by not even bothering to come out and apologize even now that he knows how upset McKinnon is with his actions on that fateful night. Talk is that he will wait until after Origin so what he is basically saying is 'stuff you Alex I have more important things to worry about at the moment, I will do my pathetic public relations exercise when I have got Origin out of the way'…..classy bloke right there. Hope he gets flattened tomorrow night.

Yep, focus on Origin like you should Cam. Screw all the bleeding hearts who are just using Mckinnon as a vehicle to drive the agenda against you.

I wish my uncle had the opportunities afforded to McKinnon when he got bowled over by a drunk driver back in the 80's which left him a paraplegic and brain damaged.

I have nothing against Smith, nor am I a bleeding heart, but feel that Smith has behaved poorly, had he have came out Yesterday with an apology for how it made the McKinnon family feel he would have looked like a champ, enhanced his reputation and had zero impact on his origin preperation.

It would have cost him nothing, everyone would understand his situation and everyone would think more of Smith, it would almost certainly make the McKinnon family feel better.

As I said his reaction in the last few days as made me angry.

I also wonder what people would be saying if it was BIrd, Hodges or another with a lesser reputation.

It just confirms many peoples view of the bloke as a dog. Simple as that.

This article from Paul Kent has alot of the same feelings I have.

The pre game will be very interesting to watch. Its been the biggest talking point in the game the last 2 days, idk how 9 avoid mentioning it.

Channel Nine won't avoid it… They created the whole drama and personalization of the matter. guaranteed it will be apart of the Pre game build up.

Cameron is too professional to get into it before the game. The post game media conference will be a ripper!

Had to laugh when reading Paul Kent's article where he wrote that the rugby league public trusts Cameron Smith…...nothing could be further from the truth IMO. VERY far off the mark. Also where he said Smith is being 'iIl advised'......any decent human being would not have to worry about being 'advised' in a situation like this, they would instinctively act in a manner that they believe to be the appropriate thing to do, which in this case would be a simple apology which has not yet been forthcoming. Pretty poor.

The whole theory of apologies is reduculous. Sympathisors getting caught up in the emotion of the Alex situation. (which is tragic)

Smith has done nothing wrong to apologies to Alex. His conversation with the referee wasn't about McKinnon, it was about the referees decision to award a penalty and place his player on report.

Considering the referee failed to award 2 earlier penalties for lifting, maybe the referee should apologies? Maybe if the referee did his job earlier in that match, the players would of stopped the lifting and Alex would still be playing?

Or maybe this is just you bleeding on attacking anything Melbourne or Smith on the back of Alex situation. Which if is the case, maybe you should apologies to Alex?

You on the turps already Watto? You say that Smiths conversation with the ref wasn't about McKinnon? ' if he doesn't duck his head it doesn't happen' sounds like it was being directed towards Alex don't you think? Surely?

Keep bleeding… Your agenda is obvious.

Have you apologised yet?

I won't be surprised if big Mal comes to the fore Watto and speaks on behalf of Smith in a sense

Well if anything, this has just confirmed that Channel 9 did what it set out to do, got people in a tizz over something that happened 18 months ago. I seriously hope the ARLC are looking at the next set of tenders very carefully.

They used McKinnon as a ratings cash cow, and if reports are to be believed, they misrepresented facts. Exactly why I don't bother with commerical FTA journalism, it's tantamount to tabloid journalism.

I'm having a hard time believing you'd be this staunch with your opinion on this if it was Jamie Lyon or Peter Wallace who had this conversation with the ref. The fact you're using this incident as an excuse to bash Smith and the Storm like you do in nearly 50% of your posts couldn't be more obvious. If Cam Smith cured cancer you'd be abusing him about what took him so long. As I said in an earlier post, your thoughts on the subject aren't exactly objective.

NRL come out in support of Cameron Smith:
