This is a very nice touch and something he really did not have to do. So thanks for everything Benji.

I think highly of him as a person, he's just not getting the best advise or management through Tauber.

I hope everyone can move on now and I hope he puts in for the rest of the year starting from tomorrow night.

Hopefully this message, spoken by the man himself will appease the hatred towards him of recent times. I thought he spoke well and opting not to read a prepared statement but sitting there and looking the viewer in the eyes for the entire goodbye speech was a class act. He looked earnest and I believed him.

He mentioned that he saw himself as a barrier to entry for Brooks and Moses, told us how much he loved the club and its supporters, thanked the club for the life and achievements he has had, urged supporters of his not to follow him out the door, reiterated that it wasnt all about the money, and just generally acknowledged what most supporters already know. His time is coming to an end. He also again stated that he would not play against the Wests Tigers and even hinted that he would like to come back to the club one day in some sort of role. He didnt make excuses and didnt drop anyone else in the poo. The reasons he is leaving are his own and it I for one am glad there seems to be no more dirty laundry being aired.

Well done Benji. You seem a great bloke and all the best for the future.

That is all that is required.

I understand your point for not doing an interview, but this is big league news, and Benji isn't just any old NRL player- he's a star, AND contracted to 9.

I think that reality will dictate that he has to do at least a pre-recorded interview, but more likely he'll get 5-10 minutes with Gus, with a dash of Beau for ratings.

I don't have that big a problem with it, to be honest.

If the sentiment remains the same i guess you are right.

Just I cannot see it going that way

Oh, yeah- if he uses it as a platform to launch darts into the Tigers club, then he shouldn't go ahead.

But he's thanked the Tigers fans, chances are he'll just thank them again with a dash of 'thank you NRL fans' thrown in & a bit of man-love for Beau.

Any interview tonight will be about ratings. If it's about putting the boot into the Tigers, he undoes any good he might have done.

Wow.
Really why didst Benji just come out last week and say that, exactly like that.
If he would have said it is time, time for a change for him professionally, personally and a change for the club we would have all respected that rather than let Tauber and all of us other dicks carry on like idiots
Thanks Beni you deserved better and hope now we can all get about enjoying the last 8 or so games Benji has for the tigers and see him off with a great 200 games!
Hope he does return at some point around the club

its amazing what a simple interview does…. people crusify him based off what others say, then opinions change when he says it...

dont always beleive what u hear.... until u hear it first hand.

Good luck in the future Benji, loved what you did for the Tigers & i saw my first Grand Final win in 2005 which we all know he played a major part in. Will be there to- morrow night to watch the Tigers win & you have a big game, Dont want to see you go but all the best & thanks for the memories.

I was seething yesterday but that has watered down some by the fact that he admitted that he would be holding back the younger guys but I'm still of the belief that this is all a monumental dummy spit by him because he got benched and he doesnt like Potter because of that. I agree with Hybrid that he is getting poor advice from Tauber who seems like he only has his own self interest at heart in all of this.

In saying that, I'm still not happy with how this has all been handled by the Marshall camp. I do, however, see this message as a classy move by doing this on the official website speaking directly to the tigers fans and explaining himself instead of giving those idiots on the footy show another exclusive.

pretty much my sentiments…

Its a pity Benji did not do this interview on day one, it seemed to come from the heart and not a orchestrated piece from his spin doctors. It certainly has gone a long way to repairing the damage of the last few days. As others have said lets hope he gets the same message across tonight on the moron show.

Yeah, Marshall's been called a lot of things this week but i've never doubted his humbleness. He could easily have given the footy show the interview but did what in my opinion was the tougher thing. He opted for an intimate video aimed only at Wests Tigers and it's fans. It's a great touch. It's fair to say we should respect that he wants to do what is best by himself. Benji though's certainly not wrong when he suggests the silver lining of being better position now to hold on to our cubs. Essentially the move will work out well for both parties.

Alright I'm back, good video. Thanks Benji.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but this probably should have come out when the decision was made.

Hopefully yeah, it would be nice for him to come back at a later stage and re-join the club.
