Message from WT CEO

Can I put the record straight on Beau Ryan;

Was not offered a written contract to sign as the WT had salary cap issues that needed to be resolved **FIRST**.

Beau was offered the contract to sign but **turned it down** as he had given the Sharks a verbal commitment.

You see a signed contract **MUST** be lodged with the NRL **within 2 weeks** of it being signed. Due to the Salary Cap issues the Tigers couldn’t offer Beau this until it was announced Rhino would be leaving..

What's this based on?

I think he summed things up well. Yes it could be labeled as spin, but his job is to put a positive message out their and he did that.

Not sure if I want Tim as a mentor to a young coach like Parish, but of course their is the financial side of things to consider.Their was also no mention of the salary cap, it would be nice to know where we are at with our cap as their are plenty of rumors going around.

Anyway I think the CEO responded well and all systems go for 2013

An excellent letter from the CEO.

You obviously werent watching fox at 4pm.No new coach named and sheens stays.I will write an above excellent letter for you to comment on Yoss.Yoss you have won a million dollars.Just after you re-elect me.Signed Stephen Humphreys.

I though Humphries and Trodden were great in the press conference and in the email. They were straight forward and made the clear and important point that you don'trush big decisions because they have big impacts and they spoke with respect about a coach who has been great for us and I think it will be interesting what happens with Tim next year after it is worked through. He could be great running our junior developement programs, working with sponsors, assisting coaches, community7 programs ,etc a great role to drive the club forward in some key areas

Sheens stays because it is easier for the club to pay sheens 450k and new coach 250k for the next two years than to pay a new coach 250k and sheens 900k next year, and if Sheens decides to leave or gets a job elsewhere in the meantime there is a chance we won't have to pay the full 900k at anytime.

We haven't got a coach yet because they've just began the recruitment process, if you're looking for a new coach you don't give it to the first person you see.

The letter's purpose was to tell everyone that Sheens won't be first grade coach. For what happens next just be patient and wait,

NRL requirements.

I think the press conference went in the right direction. The two main men sat there and answered 'reasonable' questions.

As a supporter, I just wanted someone to say something. They could have waited another week until Sheens decided whether he is going or staying.

The fact is, he won't be coach. He hasn't been sacked. They are appointing a coach after some sensible deliberation to see what is on offer. Now all those interested can come out of the woodwork and show their cards.

I think it was very positive.

Why did beau say he was re-signed with WT back in April 2012? Was he lying or did his manager and or WT stuff it all up?

A respectful exit with sinister undertones? Tim has been offered a job sharpening pencils and answering the phone until he has worked through his $900,000, and when he resigns, the board can say "Oh well, it's not our fault he now chooses to leave". Tim won't hang around, he can do better than that, and I certainly hope he does.

Verbal contract. WT never put the papers in front of them. That's how we do business at WT :unamused:

I've always said it IMO Humpty is a two faced politician and his secretary probably wrote the majority of that. The guy has a talent of dodging questions on tv that's for sure.

In far bigger light the NRL club player contracts are a joke, and absolute farce….doesn't matter if Robbie is off contract next year, players can do whatever the hell they please these days

"Having now gone through a very thorough process, I can advise you that the Board of Wests Tigers has decided to restructure the Club’s Football operations. This restructure will include the appointment of a new NRL Coach for 2013.

A sub-committee has been formed which will lead the process of selection and appointment. This process will commence immediately."

I hope the sub-committee is ready to be lobbied by The Parrott for his mate Matt Parish. I also hope they tell AJ, "thanks, but no thanks". Anyone but Matt Parish will suffice.

Trodden said this came along very quickly… So much for a well thought out process ad review...

I've lost a bit of respect for Beau with the way he has handled this situation. Obviously he was always wanted at WT, but when things were moving too slow for him and his BFF decided to take up Cronulla's offer, he goes off and commits to the Sharks also - his decision, no one else. Then he has the hide to carry on in public as if he was being shafted by the club!

To me, it sounds like they couldn't get Sheens to resign with a reasonable payout and they couldn't afford the 900k up front to sack him. By keeping him on in a 'senior role', he will still get the 900k but over two years which gives us a much better chance of coming up with the money.

I just hope Sheens doesn't have too much influence on the new coach. I guess when the team list is named for round 1, if Benji is named at half we will know

Of course Sheens will have massive influence over the new coach if he stays

Doubt very much he will stay…this is just a ploy to give him time to organise another contract with someone like Warriors. The deal will be whoever picks him will subsidise his payout ...he will not lose 'face' ...everyone will be happy..Happy
