Anyone care to save me some time reading through these posts and tell me if any of the usual 'insiders' has posted anything with insights on who we're targeting?
Not sure I can be bothered reading through all those parts otherwise, nothing that hasn't been said a thousand times already
BB, yesterday a reliable insider appeared to confirm - that the Board wanted a particular coach (not Maguire) post first review but he knocked us back. Sheens was brought onboard and head hunted the coach the Board wanted. He mentioned verbal agreement from the prospective coach.

I cant believe the reactions to yesterdays decision.

Ive seen it all, handing in memberships, darkest day in our history blah fn blah.

If you are a supporter of the club first thing you do is wait and listen to why the decision was made and where they are headed.

Listening to Tim Sheens on multiple platforms the decision in his mind was the correct one.

For years we have all moaned about our players not delivering on their potential. Going to other clubs and shining. Buying players from other clubs who dont go to another level at this club.

im one of the few that maintain that we have always had the talent. Sure we ignored our pathways under a couple of coaches who made poor decisions but this club always produces talent.

Every season someone starts going on about the team you could make from all the players that have left the club.

A few months in the job and Tim Sheens has identified the reason for this club continuing to struggle.

DEVELOPMENT.

Maguire lost his job because he could not improve players and develop their game. We have seen Kelma hit the wall, Stefano level out, Simpkins under perform and many others that should have steadily improved go backwards.

Yesterday was a very important day in our history. We saw the light and made a very hard decision that needed to be made.

I look forward to our club returning to the days where we bring our juniors through and develop them into consistent and classy players. I trust the club to hire the right coach. They for the first time in this clubs history have everything in place to be successful. Yes its not a star studded team but as a franchise we now have the structure for success.

Hopefully when the dust settles all the sky is falling mob start to see the light and get back on board.

Great post - spot on. The right decision was made.

While I disagree with your post I like the way you articulated it. Shame we don’t have leaders in the club who communicate with members and fans.

The club had two choices and they had to make the call ASAP.
The first choice was to commit to Madge and extend him beyond his current contract.

The second was to flick him and go in a different direction.

They could not wait till the end of the season because if they decided to flick Madge, it would not give the incoming coach enough time to implement a recruitment plan. Also potential coaching candidates could have been snapped up.

When you look at Madge’s win loss ratio since his GF win with Souths it’s very poor, and at the end of the day that is what they are judged on.

I would like to think the club already had their next coach signed sealed and delivered before the axe fell yesterday on Madge, because we have a bad record when it comes to a wish and a prayer style signing.

Its very easy to bet each way on the Madge situation but I am going to stick my head out and say this is the turning point for the club and in the right direction, but Madge has left some good foundations

How is that even related to the point of someone saying that Tim was a myth. No one is saying he would've done anything with this squad, but calling the man a myth is insanity.
I never said he ‘was’ a myth.
I said he ‘is’ a myth- right now.
He was past his prime when he got booted from here before.
Covering his arse for at least 3 years by now calling us a development club.
This place needs success, not vague promises and telling prospective coaches (and our fans) to be ‘patient’ for years to come.

Just quoting this post because it sums the situation up for me.

The results were poor and the sacking was probably inevitable. Madge was given a good run. He hasn't screwed up our cap and left us a mess.

I disagree that we have a coach lined up. We will have no problems at all though getting a coach and one thing I believe that came from Sheens mouth is that his phone will be running hot today.

I reckon the coaching job at our club is a good one. We've underperformed for years, our cap is in a good position, we are developing a decent squad and hopefully some juniors will come through over the next couple of seasons.

The thing is we can stuff it as usual. We need to get recruitment and retention right.
