Most teams I have seen this weekend have speed and attack combined with a mobile defence. We must be the slowest most predictable team by some distance. That’s okay if your team is built around a brutal defence structure but we can not defend two sets on our own line.

We need a coach who can attract players with the skills to play the game circa 2022 not how the game was played ten years ago

I was on the fence until last night. Up by 10 against a seriously depleted bench with just over 20 to go. Any other team would have won from there, but Madge chose to keep his bench fresh to lead the post game celebrations.

Our club doesn’t have the credibility to attract the coach and/or players we need.

It might be Maguire - but what is clear is that too many of our players are over paid for their performance level and have his fate in their hands. Until we attract players with a different mindset the next coach will face the same problem.

We didn't lose to Melbourne due to lack of speed.

In Madge we have a guy who has had the strength of character to lead the long lasting changes that we as a club need.

Our last few coaches have all set themselves up for short term.gain by recruiting mid to lower team has beens.

Im 100% in the Madge corner regardless of the 2022 season.

I am not knocking him for being a smaller fella. But gees Brooks looks miles bigger than him. He is going to get steam rolled. Look at the match ups he has every week

Is Rugby League like Basketball?
Small guys have muscled up before. Sandow would hit above his weight and scare his coach doing so. Gilmeister, Alfie and others have done it...
But small guys actually succeeding is pretty rare and the game has gotten a lot more physical.

Gildart is no Pocket Rocket or minute muscle man, nothing like Matt Utai who could outplay his size.

Gildart will be good at scoring but defense will be a weak point of his. Since we have paid for him, why not play him off the bench and see who else steps up at Centre? (seriously anyone going to step up?)

I'm all for Madge too.. I think he can create the training culture that other teams have, but I don't think he can create the winning culture and give our players IQ. I'd be happy with him not being our coach after 2022 or 2023. Not a sacking but moreso that he's served his purpose.

I'm saying that when our middles are too lazy to be in position then everyone else slides in and leaves our outside backs brutally exposed.
Our outside backs make pretty crap decisions in general but if they at least had numbers and support these deficiencies can be somewhat nullified. Leave a coyote of crappy defenders marking a 4 on 2 and we get skinned.

No other team gets exposed as consistently as us.
