I'm sorry all of this has had to be played out in the media, but that's the way it is these days. I am not sorry that there has been a complete clean out of the playing roster. Again, unfortunately, we will be paying some ex-players salaries for the next 2 years, but after that, we should be clear of the mess created by the past Board and inept CEOs.
I don't know whether Jason Taylor is the man to lead this team into the future - until he is given some time with his own roster then I can't see how anyone can tell. However, I'm prepared to let him have that time before I make a decision on that - just as I wanted Potter to have more time with his roster.
I understand that Taylor has some KPIs in his contract that he needs to meet by mid next season (someone mentioned this earlier on this forum in another thread).
I hope for everyone's sake that he meets those KPIs.
As for Farah - sorry Robbie, when a player believes he is bigger than the club, then it's time to go. He hasn't been playing well on a consistent basis for some years now - not just this season as some on this forum have suggested.
He is club legend and should be treated as such, but at the same time he is often his own worst enemy a la his role in the Potter saga. He is a divisive character - some love him and others don't.
Personally, for the longer term good of the team and the club, it's right he should go.
Next year will be very tough on everyone. With little experience to lead the young players and little money to bolster the roster, it's going to be looooooong season!
But it will get better in my opinion. The financial situation should start to improve every year over the next few years as the players we are supporting from other clubs are removed completely from the books.
According to Go, one of the criteria that the Board was looking for in the new CEO is someone who can think outside the box when it comes to generating income streams from other than conventional means.
So I think this is exciting too.
Hang in there folks - it's going to be a bumpy ride - but hey, what's so unusual about that for Wests Tigers supporters?
