Unfortunately if you read their news articale today that is not what the Daily Telegraph is telling the sporting public.

With the publicity over the past month West Tigers won't be priemership favourites at the start of this year but the favourites tag does not rest easily with this team. With a new coach and a fresh team outlook many things will fall in West Tigers favour during 2013 - Let the preparation for 2013 begin.
 
Really pleased for Mick and that will go for the Bradford Bulls Fans, The Squad will get a Coach who is strict on discipline on and off the Field, a good tactician and someone who is willing to try different things , but they also get someone who cares and will look out for them when times are tougher than normal! The Fans will find a Coach who is approachable, but if you have any queries or criticisms make sure you've got facts to back yourself up, as Mick will certainly front up to you and not prevaricate! Just remember Mick will have his own ways of how he wants the Squads to play, it may be not too dissimilar to Tim Sheens which means gentle transition, if its a lot different it will take a while as both Players and Fans will need patience while the different systems come into fruition.But however Mick approachs the job there won't be many suprises for the Playing and Coaching Staff. League is a relatively small world so phones will have been ringing between mainly Oz and the UK and France to get the lowdown on him! Exciting Times for the Tigers but patience is the key especially for the Fans! Mick may get a start like Madge at the Bunnies or may have to tread water like Benny at the Knights! Also FYI he doesn't have a magic wand and Abracadabra is not his favourite song! Although his time in Bradford doesn't mean he didn't accquire some of Sooty's Offal Dust!

He only has to name someone that that the forum dont like, or thik should play somewhere else and there will be calls for his head….. we had 10 years of Sheenius and now Potter thinks player X is a {insert position} 2 more years of rubbish.....

I expect this will occur before rnd 1.

It's covered in the statement:

"I have already been briefed on our pre season training plan. I was very impressed with the plan and have given it my full endorsement."

The training plan being, presumably: "we're planning on moving the rowing machines closer to the window, and putting a table with some ralgex on it just over here by the door."
 
I watched the press conference on fox sports news. I was pretty impressed with the way he spoke and I look forward to seeing what he can do next year.

Also, I'm just glad that we finally have a coach. We can move on now.

I vaguely remember him as a player in the early 90s. I definitely him winning the dally m medal in the early 90s. His coaching record looks decent and let's hope that he can build on it in Australia.

Mick Potter is new coach of Wests Tigers

Wests Tigers have confirmed the appointment of Mick Potter as the club's new coach for the next two seasons.
Potter will be unveiled at a 3pm press conference at Concord Oval.
Tigers chief executive Stephen Humphreys said the appointment was made following a thorough selection process undertaken by the club.

“We are thrilled to secure Mick's services for the next couple of seasons,” Humphreys said.
“Mick has enjoyed considerable success in Europe and we have no doubt that he is ready for the challenge that the NRL will present.
“We see him as the perfect person for the role. He has demonstrated his qualities as a coach in a range of differing circumstances over the last seven years. He will bring not only this experience but importantly, also a fresh pair of eyes and a new energy to our club.”
Potter said that it was a great honour to join a club like Wests Tigers.
“I'm really excited about this opportunity”, he said.
“The club has some promising young talent coming through the ranks, mixed in with some world-class players as well. The playing roster is full of potential and I can't wait to start working with the group.
“This role will be a big challenge for me but it's one that I will approach with lots of confidence and enthusiasm.”
The squad will be back into full training in early November and Potter confirmed that it will now be full steam ahead.
“I have officially commenced with Wests Tigers as of today. I have already been briefed on our pre season training plan. I was very impressed with the plan and have given it my full endorsement.
“I will be working hard with our support staff in preparation for the players assembling in a couple of weeks.”
Potter was a premiership winner as a player with the Canterbury Bulldogs in 1984 and 1985\. He was also a dual winner of the Dally M Player of the Year Award during an outstanding 201 game career.
Since his retirement as a player, Potter has become one of the most respected coaches in the English Super League, having coached Catalan, St Helens and Bradford with great distinction.
He received the coveted Super League Coach of the Year Award in 2008 and again in the recently completed 2012 season.

Great news, excited.

Not too sure of what to make of his first decision already being made for him though....I wonder who decided aon what the pre season training plan is?
