If they keep Potter in place for next year, as soon as it is announced, I will re-purchase a membership

I'm the same, if they don't resign Potter, I won't renew my membership.

It appears that Potter will be made the fall guy for an inept board, a lack of facilities, turn coat assistant coaches and a CEO that went missing when the $h!# hit the fan, let alone an injury list as long as your arm.

I believe we have a "no d!^*heads policy, why does it only apply to the players

Problem is just as many probably won't renew if they DO re sign him,
As I said in a different post , it's almost like he has been given a free excuse for anything that happens in the last half of the year, he is the Coach now, at least some of the buck stops with him.

I don't know( like most others) if he can coach or not but do we waste another year to find out,
The thing that worries me is that I've never heard him say anything or do anything that shows that he has any passion or vision for the team, just goes with the flow, I agree he seems like a good bloke , but I would prefer a coach that shows more than just being a good bloke.

I guess the question is do you waste another year to find out if he can coach, or do you find another person and waste a year to find out if they can coach? Whats the difference, its always a risk.

As for his coaching skills, I think when we were relatively injury free (and by that I mean only a few out and not a dozen or more), we were travelling in the top 6 pretty well.

At the start of the year we were picked for the wooden spoon by most. By mid year those people were eating their words and we got to see some of the potential of the players and the coach. In the last 6 to 8 weeks, we have had massive injuries, massive internal dramas exposed, and people want to judge the coach on that last period when he had almost NOTHING to work with.

I saw enough at the start of the year to say the bloke can coach and can do well if all things outside of his control are looked after in a professional manner.

As it stands, we finished with 24 points, quite possibly only two games away or maybe three from a top eight finish. Now I accept that near enough isn't good enough, but I don't think the season or the coach was anywhere near as bad as some would like you to believe.

I don't mind Potter, but clearly the players are not responding to him,we have been horrendous since the dogs game,on that score alone we need a new coach.

Potter deserves a senior role with the WT…the GM Operations role IMO. He has all the attributes required for that role. This team needs a new coach...someone who will deflate their ego's; demand results and a work ethic and if they don't deliver suffer consequences; they need a coach who will develop the younger ones - Potter isn't the answer....

Agree 100%.

He may be a victim of all the backroom brawling, our injury curse or even our lack of resources, but the bottom line is we had a very poor year and we can not afford another one. So on that alone we need change, its a shame but good guys are not always winners

If they do not give him a decent contract for a few more years I will be so peed off about it all i will probably find it difficult to maintain interest in this scapegoating band of cheap jokers that is a supposed club.

The knockers, finger pointing supposed supporters, and lack of faith in the coach in recent years and the second half of this season has been a real turn off

It's been pretty ugly…..god i hope they can clean up their act and the knockers die of of poisoned spleens or something like that

he will make a great coach some day. he has good football smarts to go with his niceness (most will probably disagree with me).

he noticed that we didnt have the aggression to play good footy when he started so he went out there and signed taupau, re-signed gavet and brought out the agression in woods as well.

he noticed that we threw the ball around too much so he asked them to earn the right to play down the other end and we did it for most parts.

he's not a finished product by a long way but he's got the smarts and the demeanor to be a good coach imo.

however, we cant wait for him to turn into a good coach. we need to start winning ASAP. it sucks that we have such an inexperienced team and that he's inexperienced as well. even our senior players (galloway= out of form, farah= not in the right mindset, fulton and anasta= retired and patty= not leader material) are not to be relied on. our team of coaches (apart from potter) has 0 first grade head coaching experience.

we need an experienced coach to guide these players and i think it's best for both parties to part ways for now.

wish mick the best of luck. he certainly doesnt deserve the crap we've given to him.

Like many others, Michael Potter is deserves our respect simply because of the way he has carried during this farcical affair and his effort should also be applauded.

He should however move on but shouldn't be alone. No matter who is to blame for the whole debacle, the poor handling means that the main protagonists should not be at the club in 2015.

This doesn't include Robbie who probably wishes his involvement was handled very differently. No doubt he will learn from this but probably needs to be a co-captain in 2015 and start to transition the leadership if the team.

No real winners in this. Just need to move on. We have a new board and probably need some fresh leadership as well.

Mick has handled himself well despite all the back stabbing and things that affected the team's performance. Give him the job and the money requires to run a football team. Players cannot play on an empty stomach the WT needs to be professional.
