One things for sure, if Richo was still here, Benji wouldn't be locked in till 2030... Hed be accountable... Doubt he is accountable to anyone ATM...

It’s typical of HBG. They leaked a story about replacing Benji, players revolted and they caved.

The decision-making process is so bad it’s beyond words.

Richo gave Benji everything he asked for but it had two benefits:

1. It meant the club was finally backing a coach to have the support systems and staff in place they’ve chosen.

2. It eradicates any excuse from the coach about not having autonomy or authority or the supports in place to make them successful.

Benji would have had four years to show significant improvement and complete a rebuild.

Now he gets an extension that he himself says he didn’t earn, the players know the board will fold to their demands about the coach, and HBG cannot sack him without significant player revolt and a significant payout.

HBG are not necessarily adverse to disruption though are they ? Don’t be so sure that they see the player revolt as something they fear in the medium term …

When everything was going down in December ..I think they underestimated the public backlash and all the complaints being made to Vlandys …we have heard strong rumours the plans were to pivot to Bennry as Chairman and Mestrov as CEO ..imagine the zoo the joint would have turned iinto then … I think all these plans were shot down by PVL…

That’s a good point actually. I think you’re probably right in they wilted once they realised how much backlash there was.

Also shows how out of touch and delusional they are too.

God it would have been awful with those two at the helm.

Out of touch or perhaps something more calculated to bring in a greater change couple of years down the road …
