I'm curious to know how many people enjoyed and miss the mid-week competitions like the Panasonic Cup.
For me the mid-week game was a highlight of the year especially since we had some success.
The Balmain Tigers got the Panasonic Cup honours in 76, 85, 87 and earlier in the Craven Mild Cup 67, 76. I guess it all started for the tigers in the City Cup 17, 23.
Our learned Magpie friends may know more about their history with mid-week or preseason comps.
The off season is always long and uninspiring for me. Covid has also hindered to progress of of COE and Juniors where not much footy was played.
I'm thinking that after the end of the Grand Final you play all your rep games including Indigenous Rd then instead of having trials you have a mid-week comp with unlimited subs and quarters to control heat exhaustion.
I think that this could be played in January night time viewing. This way injuries can be looked after before the season proper starts.
Thoughts???
